Top of my wishlist would be a couple serious ringers (Layton/Danny/Ashley level), and some good looking men. The show seems averse to casting male eye candy nowadays, I don't know why. I suppose they had Nigel last year but he's 50 years old. The hot guys in their 20s/30s seem to be totally missing unless you count the pros!

Hoping they get 2 Olympians again like in 2012/16. Thinking a male gymnast (is it finally the year of Whitlock?) and a female from athletics or something like that. Maybe also a footballer as it's Euros year.

I'd like a couple of singers this year, maybe an S Club 7 star off the back of the reunion tour? Andrew Ridgeley from Wham! was also heavily rumoured last year and said he wants to take part, would be a good get. Or maybe a younger pop star à la Fleur East, Alexandra Burke, HRVY etc.

Personally fancy the idea of a couple more out of the box celebs. Still manifesting Vito with a celebrity chef.

Otherwise, expecting the usual fare of TV presenters/radio DJs/CBBC stars/soap stars etc. Hoping that Angela Rippon's success means that they can keep casting people 65+ in future, I like having a bit of age diversity in the roster.

Amanda & Bobby for me were the two casting misses last year - I'd avoid casting the serious actor/actress type altogether as they always seem stuck-up and/or difficult, whilst I think they need to be careful with "nepo-baby" celebs next time. Tilly Ramsay was fine as she comes from an unproblematic background and seemed normal herself, but dipping into the kinda trashy Brazier/Goody clan seemed out of character for SCD.

I’m pretty sure the BBC will regard signing Bobby as a big success: maybe didn’t stroll it as predicted, but was a hit, got to the final, had a Moment people talked about with his CC. Didn’t do anything too embarrassing bar drawing Dianne as a pair of boobs.
 
I hadn't read the DS thread in a few days, and from the description 'the Lakitas think Layton's news is that he's joining the pro tour' I thought it sounded like they'd all gone off the deep end, then found it was just one person suggesting it and not very seriously. Bit anticlimactic. Might have to go see if the Nigel/Katya AT has any proper entertainment. Last time I checked it they seemed to have calmed down a bit from conspiracy theories about Nigel having enemies in high places to explain why he was singled out for the worst treatment from the producers, judges, costume department, whoever picks the music and so on that any celeb has ever had in the history of Strictly, and were actually discussing the dances. But with about another 50 pages since I last read it, there's probably something.

eta: oh god, I've had a quick look. They're quoting Keats. I don't know if I have the strength for this... 😂

I suppose he was popular, but getting people like him on is a slippery slope, I just hope it doesn't open the doors for other types like him and his family (I assume the rumours about Jeff doing it are nonsense).
 
Ok, I've never even worked in the service industry, and I want to smack them for how much they must have annoyed those poor waiters. The service was slow... maybe it had something to do with you filming yourselves reading everything on all the menus for half an hour, asking dumb questions and sending stuff back for no good reason... :rolleyes: They're lucky they're cute.

Nigel and Katya were one of my favourite pairs, but yeah, I'm a little bemused at the level of devotion. I liked all their dances, I think the judges were too harsh on him, I think it's a shame he got the yips because he had more to offer than we saw, and I wish he'd been in the Final even with the yips instead of bloody Booby's Thoughts and Consciousness and Dianne the Facebook Group Desperado, but that's as far as I can go. Not all the 'every movement was unparalleled genius, including the mistakes, and the evil producers and judges hated him and were trying to manipulate him out every single week' stuff.

I made the mistake of having a nose on that thread after Katya posted a picture of her and Nigel at Cheltenham, saying it was a nice surprise to bump into him there.

Instead of the logical explanation - they aren't super close but get on well and were happy to see each other at the races - most posters seemed to think they are soul mates and are having a secret affair (never mind Nigel's wife and daughter and that having an affair would make them proper scumbags). Big yikes

Bobby was a bit annoying but seems like a decent lad and ultimately harmless. I don't see how booking him was a big mistake - he just seemed like a typical Strictly name for younger viewers and loads of people were predicting he was going to be in the line up months beforehand. What do you mean by 'types like him?'. Tbh, I find booking anti-vaxxer Lee Anderso fan Annabel more problematic

I don’t think Bobby got Strictly as a nepo baby, I think he got Eastenders for that reason. Most series of Strictly have at least 1 person from Eastenders. I’d prefer to have someone from Eastenders than an influencer or reality TV star 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have no wish to watch this show but I may be tempted to watch Gogglebox people taking the piss out of the show 🤔
 
Ooh, seeing a slightly diva-ish side to Vito & Carlos there. Vito sending the burger back and eventually getting more rashers of crispy bacon on it than an American at a cruise ship buffet...

It's pretty dire, the Benidorm episode was the pits. Some parts where Anton talks about his father or tries to avoid to, are a bit sad. I really found Gio saying init at the end of sentences aggravating.
 
I've tried to delete it from my brain but it just hasn't worked. Unfortunately, it's official. Vito's skyrocketed down from my joint favourite with Nikita to a distant fifth, below Nikita, Katya, Graz and Jowita.

And here I was breathing a sigh of relief that the shame of Big Brother didn't end up completely rendering Nikita unlikable and unfuckable. Then Vito blasts that out of the water by revealing his inner Karen. Nikita can perform hundreds of cringe boyband numbers, cuddle thousands of stuffed toys and rambunctiously bowl over dozens of old ladies and never come close to the horror of Vito reminding me of my mother... 🤢 😫 😭

I'm sorry what has he done? is this about him and Carlos joking about the service being slow, while being very polite to the waiting staff? Or has he done something else?

I saw some of the Gio fans on FB have copied and pasted some of Ranvir's insta posts from the series praising Gio, calling her a witch etc. Have they considered maybe something happened after that that made her see him in a different way, or maybe hearing other people's stories might have made her reconsider hers (possibly, she has said absolutely nothing so far).

Vito is at Graz's tour tonight in the West End. Hope it's a success
