I think a lot of the public underestimate Chris greatly and how he lives without his sight and this is affecting the vote.
Some are carrying on like he lives at home unable to function or do daily tasks independently until Dianne Buswell came and showed him how to dance. A poor Chris attitude.
The guy is married with a child, hes had a very successful comedy career touring for years, managing to get up and down the country into venues and filmed tv shows.
He's just got on with it and it feels like some of public support for him is like patting him on the head and telling him hes done well.
So many of the comments on Insta were about how unfair the sambathon was for Chris and how it was ableist to expect him to compete in those circumstances.
I mean I'm sure they took his needs into account and gave him extra room etc, and Chris would have had time to prepare and adapt like he did at blackpool. Plus both the show and Chris probably knew he wasn't going to come first.
It's like they want every path smoothed for him to win at every turn and if it isn't then it's unfair and the show is ableist. I'm sure that's not what Chris wants his strictly experience to be anyway.

Yes they are so patronising. If you say anything slightly negative they say "YOU trying doing that with a blindfold, see how you do." Well obviously somebody with sight putting on a blindfold will struggle. Chris has been blind for 20 years, it's his life, not just for Strictly. Obviously he's still at a disadvantage, and he's doing well, but it's his life that he manages with everyday, not a novelty(blindfold)

THIS.... I watch a Christmas movie everyday in December & refuse to partake until the 1st despite all my TV channels inviting me to fold.
You weren't even tempted by Candy Cane Lane a couple of days ago? 😂

Agree about Chris. It's time for the judges to toughen up a bit. Stop automatically adding at least 3 marks for just stepping onto the dancefloor. If he left now or soon there is no disgrace in that.

I can't bring myself to watch the results show. I'm mad and sad that Jamie is gone like this. If he was crap, it would be understandable. But the worst of it is what the judges have done to his confidence. It is very unpleasant to see. I hope he cuts loose on ITT, I bet he does a great impression of Shirley.
I feel exactly the same. Totally agree with everything you’ve said 😊

That's it. Its OK if you don't agree with the result but its fair. Good dancers often leave due to the public not warming to them, which is part of it - but Jamie felt thrown to the wolves by the judges. It's the sense of injustice because of them that leaves a bad and sad taste in the mouth. He was a good dancer with a good attitude and was improving but they gave him NOTHING back. Just scolding. I'm not watching either as I'm just too cross with them and upset for Jamie. He'll be unfailingly polite, decent and funny in his speech which will just make it worse. Shame on them.

I’m not watching either. I think I did become a bit too attached them, Michelle is so lovely and they have a great partnership and also I really imagine my autistic boy to be like Jamie in 25 years time so can’t bear to see him looking sad! 😢

The problem with the judges feedback for him was that it wasn’t constructive at all. Like last week he was trying too hard and then this week he didn’t give it enough (which I don’t think was true, in both cases he matched the style and tone of the dance) and most infuriatingly “You weren’t as good as Gene Kelly” oh right, thanks Craig, great point. 🙄

agree with both. The criticism wasn’t constructive in the slightest it felt mean spirited and it was actually uncomfortable viewing especially to see how deflated Jamie looked. Has really put me off

Because Jamie had a couple of really strong dances in Week 5 and 6, the judges seemed to decide to hold him to an absurdly high standard from that point on rather than judging each dance for what it was and it made for a miserable viewing experience just like it did with Nigel last year. And it visibly wore Jamie down just like it did Nigel.

Strictly is a show heavily based around joy yet the judges seemed determined to extinguish the joy Jamie found in dancing each week. I groaned when Anton started speaking in that disappointed tone last night. I’m guessing he was not a fan of Jamie’s excellent impression!

I watched Nine Kittens yesterday. Then a dreadful one called The Christmas Toy Maker. One of those ones obviously filmed in summer with terrible fake snow 😂

I woke up still discombobulated, sad and fuming about last night. Anton was a disgrace how he spoke to Jamie. Downright rude. Can't even be bothered to waste more brain space on awful Shirley. Chris will win. It's all ridiculous.
I also watched Nine Kittens yesterday. Purely for the kittens. They didn't disappoint.

agreed on all counts!

Strictly was on a ratings high last night.

Although I agree with you that there are some who are voting for Chris because of his disability, I think some people assume he has no real fan base because they personally don’t know or like him . As you say , he’s a successful comedian who’s had a reasonable amount of tv work across various channels . He’s probably also getting some of the Everyman vote because he’s the last older untrained man left. Diane also has a sizeable fan base , who would be voting for her regardless of who she’s with. I also think there is a lot of people who are really fed up with the sob story’s that feel like manipulation, even if the celeb is actually being genuine, and find the fact that Chris didn’t take up the modifications like having a silent studio for his dances - If he had, I think he’d be gone by now .

Despite being a Chris fan , I still don’t think it’s a 100% guaranteed win for him . Every celeb eliminated means more votes available and if enough people move from their favourite to the same second favourite, it still could change . People will start voting based on what’s most important to them in the final , be that the best dancers being there, a predominantly female final, diversity in the celebs , their fave pro being there or whatever. Personally I’d rather watch a final that has a balance of technically good dancing and entertaining dancing , so will stick to my 1 for my fav celeb , 1 for the best ( imo ) dance and 1 for the couple I think need help . Even if that means voting for Sarah and Vito who both seem to be doing a Lorraine Kelly (I mean by playing the characters of Superfan Sarah and “ uh, how you say…?” Vito , rather than the growler stuff . Though that works too 😂)

They are marvellously grumpy. Towards the end our heroine is holding a little black one and I swear it lashes out and scratches her face 😂 and she has to carry on acting.

I saw a comment on FB saying Jamie had a bad attitude - just look at his reaction when Tasha got 10s. I don't remember that at all tbh - but honestly if he was standing there looking dejected who the hell could blame him. I doubt it was jealousy - he doesn't seem the type.

Jamie and Michelle were politely clapping for Tasha but they did look very dejected. I think it was probably the bitchy Rolls Royce comment from Shitley that did it.

I think Sarah is definitely going for the Lorraine growler approach.
