For those of you reading the depressing posts on the facebook groups (I'd advise anyone who hasn't not to start!), make it easier for yourself by playing Strictly Facebook Bingo. Unfortunately, the rule is that everyone loses...

I don’t think it should be scrapped. That would be punishing all the staff that work on it and reliant on the money - assuming that includes the brave whistleblowers.
I do think they need to make a stand though. I think the boss should go as should the head judge who has been unprofessional not just in her nasty biased judging but also her recent comments about FR.

Weirdly I’ve never seen an Argentine Tango that involves spitting on your dance partner. Maybe that’s one for the after show BDSM polyamorous orgies (the real strictly scandal 🤫)

This is what I was going to say, there are hundreds of people who work on the show who don’t deserve to go a year without work because Graziano and Gio are deplorable human beings.

I think it should be scrapped but only because they're not going to be able to give adequate training to everyone and put thorough procedures in place in a couple of months. I think they're at risk rushing into a series when they're in crisis and going ahead is too risky. A cautious series where everyone is panicking and on such good behaviour that it feels false isn't going to do anyone any good. This is serious shit. I'd much rather they took their time to make it safe for all involved.

I glanced at the Strictly thread on Mumsnet earlier on. Thankfully there is outrage at what was allowed to happen behind the scenes.

There is also an element unfortunately, of 'why didn't Zara say anything:... Yeah, maybe she saw what happened when someone does speak up.

All the shit that Amanda has had and continues to have thrown at her, would put anyone off saying a word. Sad but true.

Obviously it's an archaic version of the Argentine Tango that requires you to briefly play the role of an angry guanaco and is known only to connoisseurs of the dance's history like Graz.

I'm not sure whether it should or shouldn't go ahead. On the one hand, it needs to be a safe environment for everyone who works there and this coming out so soon before the series makes me wonder if they can put things in place to make sure things like this don't happen again. On the other hand though, people need to work. There are so many people on that show, runners, producers, hair and make up, wardrobe, lighting, the band, the list goes on and the show is probably guaranteed work every year for some of them. Not to mention the pro dancers who haven't actually done anything wrong.

Imagine any right thinking person, when confronted with abuse allegations about a colleauge saying.

"Well he's good to MY mother". Sweet Jes*s, words fail me. It would be hilarious if it wasn't such a serious matter.

Shirley Ballas shame on you.
Exactly. Shame on her, and she needs to be firmly told to stop talking to the media about him.

As mentioned on a previous thread also, a journalist wrote about their experience with him, when they attended a dance class. Of course it was all good.

Yep, that is comparable alright. Not.

Been thinking about if Strictly should go ahead this year and as long as the other pros aren’t like G&G, then it should be fine. Those that are borderline, need to be spoken to, don’t behave and you are out. Although they shouldn’t have to do this, perhaps the dancers need to be told what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour - like kicking, hitting, spitting, aggressive shouting, belittling etc not OK. That celebs are allowed a break and some food during their 8 hr days.

If you need to be TOLD that kicking, hitting, spitting and aggressive behaviour aren’t acceptable you have no business being anywhere near other human beings let alone on Strictly.

I do think they should suspend the show for a year (they won't do, though). All this stuff won't be resolved by the time the show starts and so it will overshadow everything. Plus people will be watching all the couples like a hawk and reading all sorts into the most innocent body language. So it won't be much fun for the celebs and probably even less so for the pro's.

Another point that occurred to me is that a lot of people have mentioned how Zara seemed to be very friendly with Graziano and his wife on social media etc. And that may have been genuine, but also, showbiz types often exaggerate their connections with other people if it's helpful to them / their profile / their work. Nothing sinister in that, it's just the way these things (apparently) work. So Graziano would certainly have benefitted from his association with Zara, and Zara might also have benefited because it reminded people of her association with Strictly (the biggest show on the BBC). I have a close friend who is in that world, and her social media is all "darling this, darling that, love youuu, my super-talented friend, etc." when sometimes it's just a selfie from a 5-minute meet at a drinks reception with someone she's barely met.

What I find interesting is that Zara appears to have more support across SM because there is video evidence and also Graz admitted it but a lot people still don’t believe all the people that have come forward about Gio because there doesn’t appear to be video evidence of physical abuse.
