I definitely think it does get stale with the established pros as it becomes predictable. It didn't help that a lot of them seem to recycle content from dances they've already done.

Oh here's Dianne doing a down with da kidz street dance. Oh look, Gorka's crawling around on all fours like a demonic sex slave.

One of these things stands repetition better than the other.

It's interesting that when you look on Twitter to see what's happening on the tour the really hardcore accounts are nearly all Dianne fans (with some Amy and Jowita ones, and one really crazed Kai person). But they are all young and are clearly not representative at all of the main audience, which is more represented, sadly, by the Facebook fans.

The Twitter Uber-fans are a wild ride, they seem to almost constantly be fighting with each other or bitching about each other in private groups.

I think the rest of the ‘fans’ (rather than casual watchers) contain within them 2 certain groups- people who vote for the best dancer and get angry at those who don’t, and call it a ‘dance competition’ repeatedly, when it’s not, and those who love a particular pro (generally Giovanni or Dianne) and would vote for them whoever they were paired with/however they do or behave.

I think recent results like Gio’s many finals or Dianne not repeating her Joe success and Ashley/Maisie/Fleur etc hitting all the dance offs show that neither of these groups hold much power, aside from the Kevin Clifton/Stacey win which proves the rule. Probably all shite but I’ve made my hypothesis and I’m sticking with it 😆

I'm not saying it's their fault, it's as much production's fault for making things repetitive.
I feel like the producers can sometimes typecast (don't know if that's the right word) the pros by giving them very similar type celebs instead of switching things up.

Twitter in general is just wild. Fan wars happen all over the place on it. Pretty sure the big one this week has been the Harry Styles and Beyonce fans.

I think certain pros are probably a bigger draw for things like the tours then they are things like votes on the show.

I think that something can organically work one year, and so production spend the next 5 chasing it to make it ‘work’ again.

It feels like since 2015, they've been desperate to recreate a similar Jay's jive 'moment', without twigging that you can't really engineer that sort of thing

Basically, they need to stop calling every street dance the best dance ever and giving them mad 10s. We still get genuinely memorable routines without all the blatant manipulation (Rose and Helen's CCs, Kelvin's samba, Hamza's salsa to name some in the last few years)

So I guess the big question that everyone's speculating over: Will Neil get a partner next series??

Who would they drop to put in Neil? Carlos & Vito made the final on their first go, Gorka & Gio are guaranteed celebs if they are back due to seniority, Johannes is much more popular than Neil, Kai & Nikita have both done well and show far, far more promise. Even Graziano had a good run last year. I can't see any justification for giving him another celeb.

So I guess it's a no.

Hamza won again this afternoon! One more show to go and then it will be all officially over for this year's celebs...

I just remembered that Hamzita will be performing again for the last time in the launch show next series, so won't be the final time for Hamza at least.

Interesting isn’t it. I think the accessibility of their obsessions due to social media has a lot to do with it. In my day we had posters on our walls and a scrapbook full of newspaper cuttings of our favourites, but there were was usually not a chance in hell of meeting them, sending them messages, getting a message back. Now they can comment on all the posts, have their hero actually reply, speak to them directly. It messes with their minds.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the most ‘popular’ pros are the ones with the biggest social media presence.
