I sincerely doubt it was their choice, I'm not convinced there's much choice involved in the Couple's "Choice".

...I've said 'choice' too much.

The producers are either trying to deliberately hobble Nigel or - much more likely - trying to avoid (not totally inaccurate) accusations that he's a ringer, albeit not on the same level as Layton.

It probably depends on who has been earmarked as the potential/preferred winner. Bob-a-job seems less likely as time goes on, so we'll just have to wait and see.
 
I’ve been rewatching some of last night’s dances.

Layton and Nikita actually gets even better when watched again. I don’t know what else they could have done to get 40.

Bobby did his best dance but really does have foot in mouth syndrome.

Ellie gets lovely costumes, Nigel gets to wear his own clothes.

Angela S did a lovely waltz, which I more or less overlooked last night. But she did really well with such a slow song, she is improving.

JMO.

I think TPTB have switched their 'winner' from Bobby to Ellie. His scores haven't went up enough to be winner material at this rate and some people behind the scenes might have had enough of his antics.
 
Some costumes are stunning, like Katya and Ellie yet Annabel looked like she was in a 1980’s prom dress and Nigel came in his own clothes.

The music last night spoiled dances for me. Can’t help but think Nigel’s dance would have been so much better with different music.
And don’t come for me but I thought Leyton and Nakita’s AT would have been more sensual and amazing with original music.

Don’t get me started on Anton last night. He was either high or drunk. He could hardly string a sentence together never mind critique decently.

They styled Danny better as Gene Kelly when they were flying Mrs Kelly across the Atlantic to cheer for Ore.

Having returned the show after a break I'm almost pleased that the music choices are still tit 😂

If people are coming up with a different reason every week as to why he's being sabotaged by the producers or judges, maybe the actual answer is that he's just not as good as you all thought he would be...🤷

He definitly isn't been sabotaged by anyone high up
his scores were very fair last night and the judges were generally positive.

He has good weeks, he has bad weeks I think that's about as deep as it gets 🤷

Yes, I like Nigel but he really hasn’t shown the potential he showed with his first dance. Initially I thought the criticism was knocking his confidence but now Shirley is praising him and he is still pretty good but not great like I think he can be.

TPTB - The powers that be?

It does seem as if finally Bobby is losing some of his popularity judging by this weeks YouTube views. I was perplexed how his mediocre dances were getting so many views, teenagers with a crush maybe?
This weeks dance however has had less views in 20 hours, 48k, than Layton has had in the last 5 hours, he is currently on 212k rising 71k since I last checked at midday. The next most popular is Ellie currently on 103k.

Of course this might mean nothing other than all of us with Nikita crushes are drooling over the homoerotic intensity of their AT and lusting over Vitos naked chest 😂

My post has really been taken the wrong way here - I wasn't clear enough in saying I don't think he's being sabotaged.

I think he's suffered from the same tit loads of other contestants have, bad music/themes and inconsistent feedback from the judges.

The show is always weirdly desperate to downplay ringer accusations, though, and they generally do it one of two ways - blatant lying about celebs past experience (a la Denise van Outen), or excessive criticism (even Layton's had the latter)

Hope you don't think I was aiming my reply at you directly @Harlot O'Scara definitly not the case 🤗

I can see all sides, i do still think Shirley hates his guts even when she compliments him she won't crack her polyfil and allow her face to smile at him that's going to far for her but beyond that nothing else really riles me as long as I can have me weekly perv I'm basically happy .
 
I’m late watching but honestly that Argentine tango might be one of my favourite in the show ever. Layton and Nikita really do encapsulate the amazing things possible with the same-sex pairings, I couldn’t take my eyes off them. The intensity in Laytons eyes at the end, wow.
