Strictly's Jayde Adams opens up on dealing with show backlash

EXCLUSIVE: Strictly Come Dancing's Jayde Adams found herself on the receiving end of some brutal backlash while competing in the BBC show, but explained it's "just normal for me to say something back".

Yeah right. Shame because the point about sexism is actually a good one but she ruins it by yet again being so big-headed.

She could have fooled me. I saw none of that during her time on Strictly. I saw a mega bore who seemed to make no effort whatsoever to learn to dance.

I have said it before here - I really liked that group overall, and when they were shown at the beginning of the programme every week, including those who were eliminated, she was the only one who did not bring a smile to my face or a nice memory of her time on the show, when I saw her.

She turned up in the audience of DOI one night and my eyes rolled.

I had a look at a few of Kai and Nadiya's tour dates and apart from the London ones, it doesn't seem to be selling too badly. Maybe they have higher costs they need to cover hence the panicked discounting - they seem to have been rehearsing for weeks, which is a bit weird. I personally don't get the appeal - nice but dull Strictly couple plus saccharine theming. Big nope

Also, I just cannot get my head around the thought process of starting a new relationship, and then immediately think 'yes, let's stage a nationwide tour based on this amazing love story!'. Like, were they not worried things might have fizzled out after a few months?

She is absolutely right that women get it in the neck on Strictly - there are endless examples of this. I also feel for her as I am sure her lashing out on Twitter is a product of years of horrible abuse online and IRL. But by fighting back against every troll she won't win, and she clearly overstepped the line while doing it. She needs to step back from social media entirely, probably.

my main problem with her was that she was just so unremittingly grim and downbeat. Every week was a different tale of woe. If you’re making Mardy Mellor look cheery and positive, it may be time to think about how you might be coming across.

This! I know Karen and Kevin had to do a tour after splitting but they were actually married when they booked it (although who hasn’t been married to KFG, aside from the woman he impregnated).

I also find it weird they own a dog but don’t live together- I respect Nadiya for saying they don’t because of her daughter- but then why get a dog when it seems to live in Kai’s sad bachelor pad.

I guess it's a case of making hay while the sun shines and I don't begrudge anyone taking a punt and trying to make a success of a tour. But the whole epic love story thing makes me feel a bit cynical - I mean, they don't even look like they're at the stage of their relationship where they can comfortably fart in front of each other

I felt so sorry for Karen when they were doing press for that tour - having go on This Morning and insist EVERYTHING'S FINE when it looked anything but

Yeah that is a bit odd, I thought the same about Joe and Dianne announcing a tour after only six months together. Fair dos they're still together now, but it's a big thing to commit to after such a short amount of time as a couple.

So many of the pros go on tour in duos and trios, if Kai and Nadiya had done like a Karen and Gorka style tour that could have been really good. But the love story angle is just too cheesy. Although it still makes me laugh that Kai played up the showmance with AJ, touching her bare back and everything (!), then killed their shippers' dreams by going public with Nadiya, and then tried to get them to come see their love story on tour

The thing is, that Will was booked as a serioius actor and Jayde was booked as ‘funny, eloquent, intelligent, comedian’. One of these didn’t fulfil their brief.

I don’t know, to me she just gave off a general air of entitlement where she appeared to think she was better than she actually was and should get bonus points for wearing a revealing or unflattering costume when Tony is right there is sparkly shorts and a peaked cap and Ritchie was sent home in a betassled onsie.

They're seriously the most fame and money hungry bunch ever but what's just really tipped me over the edge is Johannes Radebe popping up in an Insta advert saying 'heres what you've been wait for, my book my story' is he frigging kidding !!
then the advert for Giovanni and Anton du beke going for there jollies around Sicily on the licence fee payers money pops up on the telly, honestly I'm finding the whole lot of them now are just over saturated and don't even get me started on manrara and her husband talk about gagging for jobs to fund there mortage

Unpopular opinion but I'm absolutely pig sick of this current bunch of strictly pro's shilling the absolute life out of whatever they can.
They're seriously the most fame and money hungry bunch ever but what's just really tipped me over the edge is Johannes Radebe popping up in an Insta advert saying 'heres what you've been wait for, my book my story' is he frigging kidding !!
then the advert for Giovanni and Anton du beke going for there jollies around Sicily on the licence fee payers money pops up on the telly, honestly I'm finding the whole lot of them now are just over saturated and don't even get me started on manrara and her husband talk about gagging for jobs to fund there mortage

I think a lot of it is because there are so few actual presenters/TV personalities these days. The production companies are so scared to to take a risk we end up with the same few just bopping round doing everything. The Strictly pro’s are now names in their own right and popular so I guess using them is seen as safe but different … and let’s face it, for some strange reason the BBC have been trying to make fetch Anton happen for a good 15 years.

Totally with you here. I miss the days when you'd look forward to seeing the pros every autumn but you didn't see too much of them for the rest of the year. There are still a few who are like that, I'd say that Gorka, Karen & Katya all strike a nice balance but some of the others clearly view themselves as stars and are way overexposed. Johannes, Giovanni & Dianne worst offenders for me.

I suppose they do have to earn a living the other nine months of the year - they are hardly likely to be manning the checkouts at Sainsbury's for a living from Jan to Sept! It's always going to be about touring, teaching, and getting what TV/PR/writing gigs they can. Dancing is a short career.

I honestly never see Johannes pop up. And tbf he has a compelling story - I’d rather read a book about him than most of the others. The Actimel/Hello Fresh stuff is the worst and I find Trending Travel quite cringe. But also, yeah, what else can they do in between tours and the show? There’s only so many Donaheys weekends you can do..

God LL posting reviews like a proud mother! (only the positive ones though).

I thought it was interesting that someone said that Gio doesn't actually seem to have a strong connection to Sicily: he left home when he was a teenager, and barely goes home as far as I know. (Last year I remember he went home after wining with Rose and stayed for like 3 days before he and Kai went off to that Saga holiday in Portofino..).
Meanwhile Graz is never away from Italy, and Vito is always at home too and is always going on about being Neapolitan..

Does anybody know who that strange elder lady was who flew kai and Gio away? I have read various rumours- one being that they were escorts ( not in the typical sense, more just young men she could spend on) for her. Nonsense I’m sure of course

I believe Nikita was dating Nicole, but they don't appear to have been in the same country since, I think October or thereabouts. I don't think they ever officially confirmed they broke up, but the tabloids said they did, and she has been in Europe, touring with Burn the Floor (or on holiday somewhere tropical) ever since, so I'm guessing they're done. However they still seem to share the cats, (she called Leo her baby boy or something like that on his birthday a couple of months ago) so they're probably still friends.

As for the Kai/Gio Portofino saga, I can't remember that clearly what people were saying, but the tattle thread from that time probably has something - true or not though, who knows?
