Didn't Karen say once that she doesn't really keep in touch with a lot of her partners? Not in a bad way but more that she doesn't want to let everyone into her life. Which I definitely get.

i respect that and i think it’s probably the best approach. i get that you might have the odd partner you really click with (i think fleur and vito are legitimately going to stay real friends) but for the most part they are really people you work with as part of your job for a short/intense period of time.

i secretly hope she stayed in touch with charles, jamie or chris though. she seemed to click with all of them (her leaving speech to charles was lovely) but i also get why she might see it as a part of her life that ends when their run in the show does.

Speaking of Charles Venn, I happened to be watching Casualty at a friend's house a few weeks ago and there was an episode of him with his shirt off in very tight shorts and daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

SAME! the episode where he was running and had to (oh no) rip his shirt off to use as a tourniquet for an injured walker? 🔥🔥🔥

he should have gone so much further on strictly to my memory.

Yessssss, holy moly, even the bone poking through that guy's ankle didn't detract from how insanely hot Charles looked. And when he hoisted that guy up on his shoulders... oof, so strong 😍🔥

It was a shame he went so early on Strictly - his Blackpool samba was incredible.

Ah, Charles is just a lovely man, but really speaking by the time he left the only one he could have beaten in a dance off was Lauren.
Ashley and Faye were going nowhere even with danceoffs and somehow Joe and Stacey had the popular votes tied up between them.

They said they're having the baby in the summer, and seeing as she is only on ITT two evenings, she may decide to keep working. I'm sure they could make it work for her to bring baby to work if she wanted to.

I’m pretty sure a couple of nights of ITT per week doesn’t equate to a gruelling 40-hour workload so if they wanted/needed to do it they probably could. Aljaz and the baby could be on hand backstage if needed if, for example, Janette is breastfeeding and the baby won’t take a bottle. The producers might agree to her only doing prerecorded episodes/segments to make it a bit easier.

I’m self-employed and ended up literally juggling a newborn and a laptop on several occasions - obviously it’s not the sort of thing that’s manageable on the shop-floor at Tesco, but for a few run-throughs and a couple of half-hours in front of a camera it would probably work if that’s what Janette would like to do.

And, of course, it goes without saying that if that’s not what she wants to do, that’s absolutely her choice too.

I absolutely think it's possible for Janette to continue if that's what she wants. Small babies are pretty easy to work around, really.

I think they'll be absolutely lovely parents and Aljaz seems like somebody who's 100% happy to support his partner in whatever she chooses. He's a sweetie.

Sara and Emma W and their endless band of ex partners will be on hand to help with the baby too, I'm sure. 😄

Last few days of February and still no sign of any pro departures. Oti & Pasha had done theirs by now. Still got time.

I sense no one is going this year, despite the few that were anticipated a bit on here. Maybe we’ll see some more departures in 2024? Feel a bit bad for Michelle, Lauren and Luba though, would seem they would get another year on the bench if that’s the case (along with Cameron and the CFP one supposes, although Cameron not doing any tours is an interesting omen).

LadyLav posted this interview with Anton, which is sort of interesting, just in his whole old-school persona and career, and mocking his presumably terrible novels - they try to get him to admit he voted for Brexit (he definitely did).

(Remember when he called Laila Rouass a 'p*ki'??! Pretty sure he would lose his job now for that... )

In that interview he mentions ‘people think having a million Instagram followers makes you a star’

Why do you think he is a Brexiteer? He made quite a negative comment about Brexit in the interview and his roots are very European, so I would have thought the opposite - not that it matters much, but always interesting how people get such different views from an article.

Ha, I have no idea really! my own prejudice about him as an avid royalist and seeming Tory. But yes, I found his background interesting. And the shade to Giovanni funny. I was also highly amused that he - Anton du Beke! - has a ghostwriter for his novels! This was hilarious:

The way Du Beke creates his novels is extraordinary. He “visualises” the stories, then summons a ghost writer to his home in Buckinghamshire and dictates them. Du Beke might say something such as, “I see a smartly dressed man silhouetted in a dark Mayfair street,” and the ghost writer will tap away and then turn around.
“He’ll say, ‘Anton, that makes no sense whatsoever.’ We’ll delete that and go again.”
Is he standing at the French windows in a silk dressing gown, holding a cigarette holder as this occurs?
“Ha, yes! Drinking a virgin piña colada.”
Du Beke set out to write a series of spy novels, but all the characters seemed to end up dancing and shagging each other.
