Kevin stood in for Neil for weeks 6 and 7 with Alex in 2019. I don't know if a pro's ever had to drop from a series for good, apart from a couple of times one was injured before it began (Trent was a last minute replacement for Robin, I think?)

TBF he probably would love working with a really talented dancer like Layton, while showing that he's not against same-sex partnerships per se, just ones with mediocre men. And surely if Gio was a wronged victim of Amanda the show would happily ask him to step in?

ETA: Just saw above about Nadiya's DJ career (!). So probably then she just stood in to partner Layton in training and they hope Nikita will be fine Sat.

Nikita has had knee braces on in rehearsals since week 1, it’s nothing new?

I’m guessing he’s knees are a bit knackered but he seemed in high spirits on ITT yesterday. I doubt he’d have been so chipper if there was any doubt he couldn’t dance on Saturday. He was nattering about all the crazy routines he thinks of & wants to do with Layton!

I think I also remember reading somewhere that Amy was injured at some point during her series with Danny John Jules, and that one of the other girls (probably Luba or Ash-Leigh?) stood in for her during training, but she danced on the night.

Hopefully that's what's going on here too.
 
Are we sure Nadiya wasn’t there for other reasons? Do other pros train there such as Kai? And possibly she just left with Nikita as they’d finished for the day?

Yes! When Neil was dancing with Alex Scott, Kevin replaced him one week because he was recovering from an injury

Those were knee pads, because he's whacked a knee slide into nearly every routine (quite unwisely, as it's turned out...)

Hopefully more of a precaution than a serious problem, since, as you said, there didn't seem any hint of a problem on ITT.
 
Hopefully Nikita is ok by Saturday. One thing I will say though is I think Layton is the celeb who would be able to handle a switch in partners the best. Nigel, for example, would struggle I think, especially since the judges have been quite harsh on him the last couple of weeks, I think Katya is the best to get him through it.

Interesting Anton never mentioned Grangela's ballroom. Or was he just leaving room for going out on Saturday when she has the waltz.

No he did also have a support bandage thing on as well as knee pad. But is worrying that's a full on brace.
