I agree that Blackpool seems like the most fitting point for a Len tribute, and I don't think it'll look like an afterthought as your average Saturday night viewer probably has next to no awareness of DWTS.

If there is any possibility of former, Len-era pros coming back for it, I'd like to see Anton & Erin, Ian & Camilla, Darren & Lilia, Vincent & Flavia and the Cutlers. I actually feel a bit 'goose-bumpy’ at the thought of them all doing a beautiful ballroom number at Blackpool in tribute to Len. Not sure it would actually be feasible, though. It might have to just happen in my head.

It feels 'right' that Brendan should be there too, but I'm not sure who he'd dance with ~ Karen Hardy & Natalie are both on the other side of the world, I think. I'd even be prepared to tolerate Kevin & Joanne Clifton (purely as a one-off).

I agree except for the Cliftons.
I want a Clifton free zone.
Took long enough to get rid of them, don't want them back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they already do a tribute to Len. I thought they did one in the launch show for him. I definitely remember them talking about him and getting all emotional, but I can't remember if they actually did a dance afterwards though

they didn’t do a dance - but there was a short VT tribute in the launch show.

i’m almost positive they’ve done a ballroom dance for len (maybe for his final show?) previously though. but i might be muddled with the one they did for bruce 🤦🏼‍♀️

i would love to see bruno there but, bless him, he looked genuinely overwhelmed on dwts.

edit: it was a goodbye to him when he left. worth a watch as it’s lovely and it’s so nice to see him actually get to see it:

Ahh okay. I can't say I'm ever fully invested in the launch show, I was just getting really confused because I definitely could remember the talking parts. I just thought maybe they'd done a dance after which wasn't as memorable as the DWTS one.

That is so beautiful, it's actually mesmerising to watch. The suits and the dresses, and of course the dancing - it's all so perfect.

I also think Gio and Ashley parted on bad terms, and have taken care not to be in the same place as each other since then.

FWIW, I also have a husband who doesn’t notice things, but on Gio and Amanda’s last appearance in the Clauditorium, he said straight away “those two are shagging”.

I completely agree. In their last dance they did a really close almost kiss

it really is lovely (all of it, the lighting, the music choice) - i know brendan gets a bad rep but he really is/was a gorgeous ballroom dancer too. the whole thing is just beautifully put together.

something like this, with a classic pro lineup, at blackpool, will do very nicely thank you!

I’ve just gone down a “where are the old pros now?” rabbit hole mostly I was trying to see if Cutler is still hot… and Darren & Lilia have the most gorgeous little girls!

Not gonna lie if I was weeping at the DWTS tribute with their old pros whom I only know really because of notoriety, I would need Valium after a Strictly one with the OG pros 😍😍😍

same! my dwts knowledge is so patchy but even i got teary when i saw derek (and how fondly he spoke about len in the vt) - if they have the likes of darren and lilia, anton dancing with erin, natalie…. heck i would even cry at the sight of brendan! really hope that’s the route they’re going down, schedules and peoples’ availability permitting of course, especially with how well received the dwts number has been.

They do have an extra slot to fill now Amanda’s gone… Come on BBC pull your finger out and give the fans what they want haha! And do it better than the Yanks please (no offence to Americans!) but Strictly is the crown jewel in the franchise lads!!

It’s a beautiful tribute, but it did make me laugh how we smash cut to it from Alfonso’s Extremely American TV Host Voice, which gave the introduction a strange intensity that suggests to the casual viewer that Len perhaps died in some sort of murder-suicide or robbery gone wrong.

I would seriously love to see some of our original pros back in a similar way. That tribute really was so lovely to watch.
