Love Krishnan he's great fun. Regarding the couples choice do we think they should do one week where all contestants perform their couples choice? as it seems unfair Adam got high scores for jumping around and putting his hands in the air when others who were doing an actual dance routines scored lower points!
I would much prefer a couples choice week over how they do it now

You know, when I watch Strictly, that’s what I’m looking for - joy. Whether it’s a ringer or a newbie, celeb or pro. I want some joy and to be made smile. A lot of that comes from the partnership I think. But you can see how much some of them are having the time of their lives & are upbeat and full of smiles! Krishnan & Layton are polar opposites in terms of dancing experience but they are both throwing themselves into it. Similarly Nigel, Ellie .. and their respective pros also seem to be delighted by them. Then you’ve Karen & Eddie who just seem completely flat & dejected. Johannes & Annabel and Graz & Zara who seem cheerful but almost too polite. There’s no spark, no joy!

If they're going to insist on keeping couple's choice, having a CC week would allow for direct comparison, get them all out of the way at once and avoid people using it as an easy pass through to the next week. Also I wish they'd bring back the emphasis on choosing one of three styles. The majority are street dance now and it's awful. Let's have more musical theatre/jazz and contemporary like there was when CC was first introduced. Faye and Giovanni's is still my favourite for good reason - not only was it fantastically danced but it was unique.

I may be remembering this all wrong but my recollection is that it was said that she was the one who had left Kevin (for an opera singer, I think) and she was certainly perfectly peppy in that series (with Charles Venn). Kevin was quite hang-dog in interviewsbut as pushy with his celeb as ever.
No she said on a divorce podcast that she would have fought and fought for the relationship and that she was totally blindsided when Kevin asked for the divorce. The opera singer was after all that. A lot of dancers get together and it must be quite intense living together, working together- even if you dont work together when you talk about your day itll ge quite similar. 2 competitive people in a relationship isnt always a good combo

For those of us who were teenage girks in the 90s Nikita reminds me of those lads who hair has 'curtains'. He just seems so lovely though and his partnership with Leyton has really made him shine this season

I used to love Ben from a1 in all his curtained glory when I was a teenager, and have somehow never managed to shake off having crushes on men with curtain-esque hair and baby faces as a result of it. My husband finds it hilarious - last night I said "there's the dancer I fancy" and he rolled his eyes and said "well, obviously" 😂 Nikita seems lovely in general but I mainly fancy him when he's looking all confident, serious and a bit intense during dances 🥵

Last night as the show started I also announced to my husband "I also have a bit of a crush on Nigel - you know, Nigel Havers" and he sat there completely baffled until I shouted "....NO, Harman!!!"

Also, hi! I'm new to strictly this year aside from watching bits and pieces with my mum during the first few years, and it's a lovely respite from looking after a 5 month old! This thread is amazing - I watched the show gradually over the space of two and a half hours last night due to baby waking up, and then caught up on alllll your comments afterwards which kept me very entertained and made me feel part of something despite being sat alone. Apologies to anyone who suddenly had a deluge of notifications of me belatedly liking your posts!

Anyway, I'll probably be mostly a silent observer but wanted to say hello and thank you for your insight, entertainment and company 😊

I cried laughing when I first found the threads here and read through the most liked posts. 🤣

Same - I did some proper dirty chuckles last night, especially reading everyone's horny posts 😂

I like Claudia and i don't mean to whinge but I keep thinking i wish they hadn't just laughed at Vito when she asked him about the fragolina. I googled it and it's clearly a complex set of moves. Vito looked thrilled that Shirley had picked up on it. He's worked hard so he deserved to enjoy the praise and I feel like he was just being enthusiastic and English is not his first language so yes it was garbled but I would still prefer to hear him talking about dance than the inane "how much did that dance mean to you" chat. I like learning about the dances and don't want the sob story/this is the best thing I've ever done I my life bits. I feel like they whip the contestants up into an emotional frenzy and its not good for them. That paso did feel very different to what we've seen before with some different shaping and movements and it's nice to see the fresh enthusiasm Vito brings. Some of the other dancers really do look jaded now.

I really don't mind that Layton has experience. I like that partnership and the way the judges are so random in their voting and praise it hardly gives him an advantage in the end to my mind. I do cringe when the dancing is really bad so it doesn't bother me. I get that it doesn't seem fair but honestly it's hardly a fair competition anyway is it. The judges and the public clearly have favourites based on personality over ability.

Kevin was well happy that year. By all accounts, he pitched relentlessly to be partnered with Stacey, won the glitterball and the girl.

The year Karen split with Kevin who was her partner and how did they do?
Shes said that split was really hard and she still had to see him at work each day. Was she as disengaged and remote then as she has seemed this year with Eddi?

I remember things being messy in 2017 with tabloids claiming she was having an affair with her accountant and that Kevin was too focused on the show so their marriage was suffering. Then their split was announced just before the final. Karen went out early with Simon Rimmer that year (they were bottom of the leaderboard most weeks and a few dance-offs) so she managed to deal with most of the fallout off-screen.
