Last week on ITT, he had his hand on her knee in the most awkward looking way, like, 'must remember not to move hand.' This week he was part turned away from her at times. It's all a bit strange.

As regards him being disconnected, I thought that on the first night, as they were about to run up the stairs to join Claudia. I don't even know what it was but I thought it looked like 'okay here we go, onto the next part' - in a really mechanical way, on his part.
And Amanda was sat forward hugging her knees all the way through.

I am sure they get on fine but are both fairly intense and competitive. But after last year's debacle he clearly doesn't know how to behave - after the snog on Saturday he had his body turned away from her last night. I imagine he's trying to work out if he can afford to leave Strictly after this year - I noticed that next Sunday he is doing a private dance workshop instead of resting or choreographing the next routine. He's always chasing the next buck.

A Rumba in week 3?! That’s madness. Do we know
any other dances yet?

Also, Hi all! I’m too slow to keep up with these threads but I am of course watching again from Germany and texting my Nan every 2 mins while also trying to check here. Means I miss most of the waffle which is a nice perk.

I was thinking it seems very early for a rumba but the producers make so many strange decisions now a days that I try not to even question it anymore.

To be fair, the rhumba has always been an early dance. Way back when Strictly started and the couples did the same half and half dances, it was the week 2 Latin (Week one was Waltz and cha cha, week 2 was rhumba and quickstep).

Really? I always think it seems difficult so it seems weird to give it so early.

Yep for series one it went …
week one waltz/cha cha
week 2 quickstep/rhumba
week 3 tango/jive
week 4 paso/foxtrot
week 5 everyone did a samba and a group VW
and then for the rest of the weeks did a missed dance and it pretty much stayed that order for the first 4 or 5 series with a few VW/AT tweaks.

(I’ve always assumed they were given early/later slots depending on difficulty so it‘s probably odder that the paso and foxtrot are done so early)

I think they get on like two people who are used to working in an ensemble cast and then moving on to the next thing without a backward glance. This week I’m booked to learn/teach the rhumba

They are the literal polar opposite of Tom & Amy: we’re here to competently execute precisely what we were contracted to do vs let’s keep rehearsing forever for a show we’re not even on anymore, and hey, let’s live together too! 😀

Some good ones on that list, and some that we haven’t seen 5000 times before which is always good 🤣 Think Layton, Nigel, Eddie & both Angela’s could do really well this week. Bobby doing another high energy crowd pleaser, he might end up like Tyler at this rate if they keep burning through those…

Just watched the James Jordan video and agreed with almost everything he said, especially about Gio and Amanda seeming fake (along with that hideous lift). I must be coming down with something.

James and Ola had the fanny-flasher starfish lift in loads of their routines, so he’s a bit of a hypocrite to criticise that.

Arse though he may indeed be, he’s usually spot-on with his appraisals of the dances, so I do hold my nose to check his online commentary.
