Ugh Jo Clifton. Ugh.
She was part of the smug/tearful Ore stealing the trophy from Danny Mac (he was robbed!) debacle and I find her just as annoying now as she was then! There are so many pros they could have for choreography corner who would bring different things to it, having one is boring but having her is just ugh.

As soon as she won she bailed so I’m wondering why she’s back permanently? I know the answer is COVID got in the way of theatre and Strictly loves a Clifton but why not give it to someone who came to a natural end on Strictly, someone loved by the public and was also a fantastic choreographer. Maybe someone like…

The press picking up on the Richie and Gio awkwardness with 'sources' focusing on Richie being difficult to teach and not listening to Gio - I really hope that's not Gio's PR team trying to put him in a better light, because that sucks

I do find him a bit cringe, but I hope Richie still has a nice Strictly experience because he clearly loves the show and was so excited to do it

I hope not, there’s no need for that. I’m hoping that Saturday night was just nerves and Richie genuinely calms down - my tolerance for hyper excited people is so low, Janette and Karen dicking about when the phone lines opened used to interfere with my karma

My only impression of Richie is from Saturdays show so maybe I'm not the best to judge but I actually really like him. I love how excited he is, I love that he doesn't hold back his joy. I love that he isn't holding the camp back. I am glad he's not with Johannes because there would be TOO MUCH EMOTION maybe Richie and Gio (Rio?) Will balance each other out.

Me too but not really getting any vibe that Richie’s not enjoying himself. DM added a response from a rep saying it’s rubbish, but they’ll keep banging on with a ‘feud’ storyline until something else comes up.

Talking of which, could be slim pickings on the showmance front this year. The pairings almost seem to have set up to avoid it. Famous last words…

I said the same last night: the draped trousers that pool around the feet appear to be Matt’s trademark ‘look’, along with the hat.

Not to be the devil’s advocate here but quickstep trousers always look like that no?! I do remember Gorka and Maisie’s qs for the very same reason - Gorkas peach was looking more like a gabbage in them

I think they realised that Helen is at the point where she needs her confidence building back up and just to have fun, without any undue speculation and I’m glad they seem to have gone with that.

Luba is so lovely. She did a story thanking people for their gifts and messages and told them not to be upset about her not getting a partner as she's still happy to be in the show. She seems very genuine about it all.

She's also so beautiful - her eyes are really stunning.

I think the worst year for men’s apparel was the year Mark Wright year. The trousers were off the peg, drainpipe with pockets they refused to sew up, so were flapping about all over the place. Not good.

I feel like Richie is maybe a bit of a waste of a same-sex pairing. He's not a good dancer, not especially likeable or a big signing for the show. Whilst it should be the celeb's choice and not every same-sex pairing is going to be as good at dancing as John, the show are going to want one anyway and I think they could have found someone better for it.

Obviously Gio had to get a dud this year but this will likely be his one and only experience with a same-sex partner and it's likely a negative one when he would have been able to bring a lot to the table with someone else.

But I thought we'd reached the point now where same sex pairings on Strictly are just a normal part of the show- I think it puts unfair pressure on celebs in same sex pairings to say that they have to be good, likeable etc otherwise it's a 'waste'

The pockets on the off-the-peg trousers drive me mad! Just sew them up! They look awful when they gape and they ruin the leg lines. Gorka’s pockets were not good on Saturday.

Ok so I know I’m a huge Gorka fan but I would really like to see Helen go far no matter who she was with. I can’t even imagine what she’s gone through with that asshole husband and having 3 kids so young. I think doing well on the show and having fun with Gorka will do wonders for her.
