Mine would be Gio and Faye’s brilliant nightmare fuel Charleston. It should be awful but it’s fab and I love it.

She was better than him in their CC too, I thought!

I would pick Katya and Joe's Money samba. No way in hell should that have worked but it was inspired, exciting and different.

I think it was because she committed completely and utterly to the whole lunatic idea, if she was going to be a puppet, she was going to be the BEST GOSHDARN PUPPET the judges had ever seen. whereas Gio was a little reticent about dressing up as a Little Blonde Puppet Boy and prancing about with goats. I think it gave his dignity a sharp ding in the side and his dancing suffered for it.

It was absolutely a great dance though, and she was magnificent. (Also, whoever piloted the puppet goats in the background deserved a BAFTA for Best Comedy Acting.)

Yes, I think that’s exactly it: Giovanni was trying to hang onto at least a micro-shred of ‘cool’, when the only correct approach to that dance was to willingly absorb the insanity into every cell!

Katya is such a great choreographer, that samba was perfect.

As for another difficult dance, one that faded into the ether after his dumping out of the comp the following week, was Aston Merrygold and Janette's salsa. The lifts were risky and Janette trusted him so much.
