I think strictly majorly benefits from ITV not having a flagship show that'd super popular. If itv actually managed to find something that attracted all generations then strictly could be in trouble

I was like that last year with Rhys and friend’s little girl looked at me with absolute pity and eye rolling. A deep sigh was involved.

I think it’s easy to forget the number of people Strictly is actually being cast to appeal to.

Exactly.
Niece is way, WAY more excited about Hamza than she was about Rhys. She thinks Rhys is ‘nice but too silly’ (🤷‍♀️) but Hamza is ‘really kind and he likes lots of animals and his hair is like Famida’s dad. I think I need to vote for him Auntie B ’. ( 🤷‍♀️ )
She’s pretty fickle though - I think if she sees Fleur looking gorgeous in a sparkly frock she’ll forget all about him.

Poor bloke is going to get the Matt Baker Memorial Sparkly Wellies and a salsambacha to Ramble On.
Be good to hear Dave Arch and the Wonderful Singers coping with A bit of Led Zep, though.

It’s about the same as it always was.
some people I know instantly, some I’ve vaguely heard of, some not a clue.
At least, so far, there’s no one of Widdecombe arrrgggghhhhh, why did you do this to me, get her off levels.
sometimes prior knowledge is a distinct disadvantage.

Exactly. They are trying to attract different audience demographics, especially as its a multi generational family show. There are big names here, just I their specific niche

There once was a time when corrie or eastenders stars would be considered big names, but these days they would be more a 'who' as soaps aren't as popular as they once were. People have so much choice on what to watch these days, it's harder to get names that everyone will have heard of and/or like.
