Anyone on this thread know much about odds and how it works etc? I always see people say someone is the favourite to win/favourite to be eliminated but I don’t understand how it actually all works 🤣 Looking to put a bet on but not sure if it’s too late in the game now?

Looking at SkyBet, you'd get a good return on Will. He's the only one with good odds who has a glimmer of winning. You only have to look at the order of the list on betting sites to see who the favourites are. You can put in a sample bet to see what you return would be without needing to place it.

I know we like to complain, but the Strictly Dancer-Picking Elf has done absolutely sterling work 2021/22, and should be recognised for their achievements. They've pulled in:
  • Kai, a charming, down-to-earth bloke who hit the ground running and played the will-they-won't they showmance to perfection
  • Nikita, who is what the producers always wanted AJ to be: a cheeky, quick-witted younger pro who can most certainly speak more than two sentences without giving you the impression that someone is feeding him all his lines through an earpiece (sorry AJ, but you were a robot)
  • Jowita, again, incredibly well-versed on how to play the game and is adorable whilst also giving one the impression she would bite the nose off a judge if they dared harm her precious partner, be that Hamza or Adrian. (It's a good look for her, I do like a bitey professional dancer. )
  • Carlos, who has had a slightly difficult run with poor Molly, but clearly is an excellent dancer and whom I would very much like to see more of, I think there are depths as-yet untapped in him, perhaps a same-sex partnership would bring it out. (That rumba with Nikita was fire.)
  • Vito: warmly, sweetly eccentric, not afraid to play the fool at all, and has just been an absolute joy to watch on social media with Fleur and the other pros, who all clearly love him
I can't make a judgement on Lauren or Michelle yet, hopefully next year they will be partnered (maybe give Cameron a shot too?)

What I would say is that the male professional lineup is incredibly strong at present, but the female side really needs looked at. Karen is surely thinking about other things after 10 years, they need to either give Luba a partner or move her over to choreographing officially, and Amy looked done in this year. Not sure if she was a wee bit unwell or other things going on, but that pairing with James just didn't work on any level. And Dianne might need to pull up her socks too, Tyler should have been a nailed-on semi-finalist based on how well he danced the first few weeks.

+1 to this.
It sums up a lot of what I have been thinking. Especially about the newbies of 21/ 22.
I really like Kai, I was so sorry that he and AJ didn't get to take part in the final.
Rylan did a superb interview with them at the time.

Love Nikita, really love him and what he and Ellie S did this year deserves more recognition than it got, imo.
Love Vito and Jowita. Just love them. They are funny, they have brilliant rapport with their respective partners. And they are fabulous dancers.
And Carlos is another great addition to the team. Agree - his and Nikita's dance was fantastic. 🔥

Thats what was so frustrating he is an excellent dancer and teacher to throw it all away to be a celeb is baffling. Surely he knows the rent a Z lister reality tv circuit has a shelf life and the later he left jumping ship the better it would be? Could he really be that vain and thick?
I know the Pros like to give the impression they are all one big happy family, and for the most part I believe them, but each year when they were on tour I was a bit suspicious that AJ had no real bond with the other pros.

BIB - yep.

I got to say I was pleased he left, I never connected with him, he lacked persona.
I remember everyone deciding from Ranvir and Gio’s AT that they were shagging and then when the series finished it became pretty clear they weren’t and then watching everyone do exactly the same thing with AJ & Kai a year later with the same outcome 🤣

Not going to lie I thought Kai was a bit enamoured with AJ , clearly I was wrong, he was just coyly hiding his different coloured teeth

ITT - a week of manrara 😬
ITT - Will being intense 😬
ITT - Jowita's samba outfit 😬

I wonder if Karen is just not bothered? She’s 40, got her husband and dogs and a tour with Gorka in Feb. She might be quite happy to have a few weeks off-ish.
Gio and Anton are doing the corporate circuit with their double act (those jackets!) Wonder if he prefers that to training for the Xmas special?

It’s probably good money doing their poundshop Fred and Gene skit for corporate events I guess, although I’d still be surprised if Gio doesn’t have an Xmas partner- I’d have thought the show would want him as a draw as last year’s winner and a popular pro.

Those jackets give off an ‘upmarket brothel sofa’ vibe, just eurgh.

I’m still not sure on drag queens. It’s verging into pure reality star and I’m not sure strictly would go there. Mark Wright did start on towie but I think he’d moved on to a few other bits and bobs by the time strider came along. If any of the DRUK contestants had done anything other than reality show to reality show to doing the rounds on celeb editions of pointless etc I’d say there’s a better chance. Traditionally strictly hasn’t really gone in for pure reality star almost everyone has been known for a proper career such as acting or sportsman. (I know social media stars are a bit debatable)
Big difference between say a love island contestant who sits in a villa talking shite for the summer and a drag queen who is likely to have been performing on stages for years. Some are comedians, some are singers etc. Plus some would have a name in the drag scene/lgbt community before druk, like Cheddar Gorgeous or Joe Black.

Seriously it feels there is something from cabaret every year - boring!!!

I like Cabaret but it's not easy to pull off the tone of the show (and why would it be, it's a complex musical about sexuality, self expression and the rise of the Nazis that's at times grotesque and disturbing)

Joe and Katya completely got it, but otherwise they settle for "Oh yes, Cabaret is about sex people who wear black and bowler hats!"

joe and katya is the only time this show has ever gotten the tone of cabaret right, i absolutely agree. people just fall into the liza minnelli! fishnets and bowler hats! aesthetic instead.

it is absolutely too niche and they would never have considered it, but with his passing this year a sondheim week would have been 👌🏻
