I’ve been lurking on DS (what do you expect me to do whilst wfh, actually do some work?) and apparently Hamza is the chosen one this series as he’s never had a bad song or theme. I must’ve hallucinated his weird futuristic jive to the weeknd and his dinosaur rumba. It’s so funny the narratives some people will create in their mind just because their fave isn’t THE fave.
I was reading a thread over there earlier and one poster was pretty much saying that they didn't believe Tony was injured. They must have wanted him to be taken away by ambulance or something to prove a point. After all, he was still able to stand upright kinda thing. 😉

There was someone saying the same on here last night!

Apparently his ability to shimmy around a bit in his leavers dance was proof that he could have done the jive but just didn’t want to.

As soon as Tony finished his jive it was obvious he’d hurt himself, he held his leg and did a hobble.

It certainly used to be Lukas McFarlane who did the contemporary CCs on Strictly, who is a decent choreographer if you like that sort of thing. Rose and Gio worked with Ash-Leigh and Arduino as she had worked with them a lot and felt more comfortable which was understandable.

I think his issue was he choreographed stuff that was too ambitious- his dances for Ashley Roberts were stunning but she was pretty much a pro. His routines for Lauren Steadman or Saffron Barker worked a lot less well.

If Tom Fletch and Professional Strictly Groupie Sarah weren’t in tow with crocs and spare trousers it didn’t happen

I think the judges knew the dance off was not going to happen. Craig actually told Tony he loved his dancing.

I don't think he would have said that at that point, if the dance off was about to happen and then next thing, he would be voting to send Tony home.

Ah yes, that is true! Come to think of it I did think Craig’s speech was weird but couldn’t work out why at that point!

So random! Didn't Gazza do their version of I'm a celeb that year too so maybe she was familiar to the audiences via him.

Gazza played for Lazio, one of Italy's biggest teams so I guess he's a recognisable name to many Italians. But I don't see the logic in casting the step-daughter of a footballer who played in a country 30 years ago, especially when she herself was unknown to an Italian audience. It would be a bit like casting one of David Ginola's kids on Strictly.

Before the Samba, she smashed her Waltz the previous week so she has recently shown that she has improved in both Ballroom and Latin. Fleur's CC might be something similar to AJ's CC. I personally think that Fleur was made to do a CC to Destiny's Child.
It has the potential to come across a bit samey though. It’s only a couple of weeks since the Salsa to Beyoncé.
the living my best life dancing to Beyoncé on Strictly on my birthday will just have a tweak to dancing to Destiny’s Child at Blackpool.

Oh the Italian version is very different! I know I take the mick out of LadyLav but she gives a pretty decent run down each week on the DS International thread and puts it as a Light entertainment talk show with a bit of dancing. They always have loads of older celebs too like 70 - 80 years old that wouldn't likely pass the Strictly health check.

Gazza is still renowned in Italy due to his stint years ago with Lazio.

The Italian version of SCD is such a shitshow - one of the contestants, an elderly actor, has just been booted out for wearing a fascist t-shirt in training! (imagine Will training in National Front shirt!). Yet again, Vito heaves a sigh of relief that his agent got that call..

One of the contestants got disqualified this week for wearing a pro Mussolini T-shirt. It is a totally different beast though, not so much about dancing. It's interesting to see the occasional over 65 on the show but having like 4 of them every season doesn't sound my cup of tea.

I don’t doubt Tony’s injury is real but I’m still suspicious of the timing of his withdrawal . I know people have suggested that it’s Tony being honourable and letting Tyler go through despite having higher votes from the public but why couldn’t the judges judge based on the performances from “ Saturdays” show ? That would have been kinder on Tyler and Dianne who had to listen to feedback on how to improve while possibly knowing they weren’t actually going to be dancing again , and also on the other couples ,who if we are assuming knew what was going on , were having to act like they were in jeopardy , and sitting through a longer than usual fluff chat piece when they all just wanted to get home and stick their feet in an ice bath with a large gin . And surely an honest defeat is better for a legend like Tony than a tactical withdrawal?

as up untill this weekend , Tony seemed to have a substantial percentage of the public vote, are we assuming that a big proportion of those were only voting because it was Tony , and won’t bother voting for anyone now he’s gone?
