I was thinking about that too. Would a different pro have worked better with her?

I really like Vito, I must add 😁 and they seem to get on really well.
I think he’ll be a huge hit and I like that in addition to his talent, he doesn’t mind dressing up and laughing at himself! I think Pontiac hit the nail on the head about being brand new and teaching on a quite intensive level while still trying to find his way himself.

I think Fleur is a great dancer, but not necessarily a ballroom dancer….some of her routines are really aggressive and powerful; she’s great to watch, but I feel like some of her routines would be better if she reined it in a bit.
Having said that, there’s no way she should have been in the dance off. I thought it would be James and Ellie S; I thought both their routines were awful.

Someone was saying earlier that it was strange that Joe McFadden won his series.

For me, it was simple. Firstly he's Scottish and we like to get behind our country folk. And secondly, he was up against 3 very strong and very different women - they probably cancelled out each other. I think Debbie might have won if Gemma hadn't made the final. And the same the other way.

Alexandra was a fabulous dancer who deserved to win but suffered from the ringer tag (which Joe managed to avoid despite being in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang)

Fleur is a poor imitation of Alexandra - she's defo not as good a dancer.

Also - Joe was humble (a bit like Hamza) and he had Katya as a partner, which helped too. Her routines that season were sensational.

Nobody seems to like the themed weeks then! Is it just that there are too many or is it because the standards have dropped? (Or both)

For me, I LOVE a themed week if done properly ie relevant, un-tenuous concepts/music/styling etc and all done to wow us and put on a spectacle which is a step up from a 'normal' week.

I've always looked forward to Halloween week more than any other week but this year's felt half-arsed and underwhelming.

Did they not have the budget/resource to do it justice or did they just not care or run out of ideas? Some poor couples really were done up like big fat kippers!
Last week's Halloween pro dance was one of my fave things they've ever done 😂

Thought a few couples this week managed to balance the theme well with the dance - Helen, Hamza and will come to mind

I noticed the judges were careful to avoid saying the better performance in the dance-off, because they needed to overlook Fleur's mistake. While I agreed it was James' time to go, his mistakes in the dance-off weren't as glaring as Fleur's. Tonight proved that the judges don't make decisions based on the dance-off alone - they already had made their minds up that James would be going and they had to justify it without referring to the dance-off.

I think this was obvious last week too when several judges looked pissed off that they had to send Jayde home - it seemed to me that they were planning on sending someone else home and seemed annoyed that the public forced their hand to . And the same week 3 when they have to send Richie home . If I were cynical , I’d suggest that Tony being overmarked this week was to try and get people to vote for other people .

the voting always annoys me a bit each year because the judges votes are meant to help inform the public vote by giving an experts point of view from 4 professionals who’ve been able to look at the different elements of the dance as viewers at home only get to see the shots we get . This year we seem to have Craig marking low to try damage control his fellow judges overmarking , Motsi being all over the place , Shirley being her usual mean girl at first and now overcompensating after getting called out for it, and Anton who seems to have reverted back to talking about his own days competing and taking it all as a big joke . I can imagine it’s really difficult for the celebs too - if scores and feedback don’t match up, how do you know how and if you’ve improved week on week ?

Wow. Voting for the pro even when the choreography was utter pish. Ellie S should have went. That dance was an abomination.

People can vote on any criteria they like, in Strictly as in everything else in life.

There’s no ‘rule’ that states you can only vote for a ‘non pish’ dance.

With his photogenic kids, making #content

(He actually seems very nice amd I think with a different pro could have done better)

I honestly don’t think he wanted to do any better or stay in any longer. He fulfilled his contractual obligations as this year’s sacrificial Eastenders lamb, did some inoffensive dances, probably had a bit of a laugh with the rest of the cast, he’s back to having just the one job, and the fee makes his bank balance look pretty.

I know Fleur messed up on whatever move she was doing and almost landed on the floor but James hardly managed any of his steps during the dance off. There was one point Amy’s swivelling and he’s just stepping back and forth clearly messing up his steps and looks like he didn’t even want to put the effort in. I feel like he’s messed up in every dance, either misplacing or seeming to forget the routine. I think he’s knackered from still working a fair bit unlike quite a lot of the other contestants. He seemed like a nice guy but he was terrible to watch with no charisma and was clearly the right person to go.
