John Sargent
He retired as he thought it wasn’t fair - it had become a thing he could have won

They say vote vote vote as the public has the last say, but not that year!

John Sergeant entered into the true spirit of Strictly, Kristina played her part especially when John dragged her across the floor like a sack of spuds in their Paso. 😁

He even had to have a press conference to announce he was leaving the show. It was crazy that they feared he would win, why not if the public enjoyed their dances?

I wonder if we'd ever end up with a Boaty mcBoatface situation with the worst dancer winning one year

i wonder this too! i do think that the momentum would eventually fade - there’s been so many dancers who have gotten further than they “should” but i don’t know if the worst dancer would ever actually win. chris hollins does immediately spring to mind here though, he was never the worst but is probably the perfect “but he tried his best!” winner.

that being said, the best dancer arguably rarely wins either.

For sure. I like that description 😁. I thought they were like something he might wear lounging around at home. 😁

I would love Rylan all week. I find I'm more interested on the evenings that he is presenting. I always wish the programme was a bit longer on Mon, Tues and Fri.

Same here…not a fan of Janette at all. Aljaz seems to prefer it back home in Slovenia these days 🤔

It was HUGE! On DS it was termed ‘The Day that Strictly Died’ and the forums were in MELTDOWN! It was so, so funny - especially the po-faced ITT special! 🤣
It was hilarious. Pure chaos. Kristina was trying really hard to be serious and somber next to John Sargent. She was the proto-Katya, choreography wise - I don’t think I agree with her on anything else but she was a beautiful dancer.

Catching up but didn't he "retire" because he had a pre booked all expenses paid cruise. So not out of goodness of being fair but because he had a jolly that he was expected to turn up to

That rings a bell actually… forgot that part. they should have made him stay on - take the cash and think he would be out first week. The GBP will show him.

Wasn't there something about he had applied for the role of head judge too?

Shirley on paper was a great signing, all the competition, coaching and judging experience. Had a bit of an insight from working with some of the pros as well as having Mark, Derek and Julianne on DWTS. Came from a Wirral council estate so would be quite down to earth and real. But she bought Shirley Bias to the table and became besties with Dan Wootton.
