I just had a look and the 2022 Commonwealth Games are in Birmingham and the diving starts on 4 August. I know nothing about training schedules but I wonder if the Olympics being late has replaced some of the training required so he can take time off 🤷🏻‍♀️. If he’s taking a break I think it must be for something specific though.

@glasgow27 true story! There’s no way Anneka Rice would get I ♥️ Grimsby tattooed on her foot (or anywhere else) I’m sure 🙄

There’s been a few who’ve said they’re taking breaks not just Tom. I think the other diver Jack Laugher is and possibly Max Whitlock and Adam Peaty and probably more. I guess the lead up to
the games and the last few months in general have taken their toll. I guess taking a few weeks/months “off” (I assume they’ll still be doing a bit of light training so as not to seize up etc) is probably for
their own sanity given the pressure on them. I don’t see any current Olympians doing it this year just on the off chance they rip/break something in the lead up to the commonwealth games.
 
Jack Laugher is also pretty fame hungry so him on strictly or I'm a celebrity wouldn't surprise me

I can see Tom and Jack opting for I'm a celeb over strictly tbh as it gives individuals greater time to shine, much more screen time and show off personality

Max Whitwick is a lovely guy but not sure if he is too quiet to do something like strictly.. he would be a great choice though.
 
I know his name’s been thrown around on here abit but I can really see them getting Nile Wilson. Obviously he’s retired now so training wouldn’t be an issue and he’s doing alright regarding Youtube, I know people who know him because of that rather than his gymnastics.

Maybe Sam Quek but I think she did the jungle a couple of years ago.
 
Nile Wilson retired due to an injury (I think it was his back), I wonder how he'd physically find it. Maybe one for the future but I wonder if he'd perform to his full potential doing it this year.

He will definitely start doing the reality TV circuit. Strictly would be good for him. If he is physically capable of it right now, or maybe he needs another year.

Bloody love Jack Laugher, I'd love him to do Strictly. I'd watch other shite reality TV shows if he was on them as well.
 
I think Tom Daley is a pretty definite no. He said in an interview that he's going to Canada where his husband is working until December time. Even if that was just a cover up, I really can't see him being in the UK and doing Strictly while separated from his husband and son in a different continent. Especially after just being separated for such a long with with the Olympics and the various training camps and competitions recently.

With the 3 year Olympic cycle I do very much doubt any current Olympians would be a go. They've had to work for 5 years instead of 4 and now they only get 3 years to prepare for the next one which cuts out the 'rest' year/months that a lot of athletes take after the games. I imagine if they're taking a break they do truly just want to relax.

Nile Wilson I can see happening though. If not this year then soon.

I agree, but it did seem genuine at the time. You can say nice things about your partner without swooning and she really did seem to mean what she said at the time.

I wonder if Kev did to her what he allegedly did to Louise Redknap and abruptly stopped all contact.
Now I know Louise was meant to have a crush on him (baffling I know 🤷‍♀️ ) so it is slightly different as I assume Anneka didn't.
Obviously no reason at all he should stay in contact but I can imagine it all being very intense and all that 'I know I've made a pal for life' type stuff and then nada. It would make you look a little differently at things in retrospect possibly.

I think Danny John Jules refusing to do the exit interview was the most obvious example of something having gone badly wrong but did we ever get to the bottom of what actually happened?

Brendan Cole hasn’t always been popular with his partners though, didn’t Lulu speak out about their dislike for each other?

As you can tell I have a great memory 😂

I would say that Tom is one of, if not THE most well known British athlete that went to Tokyo alongside maybe Andy Murray. He's also got a youtube channel that is fairly popular. Not to mention his books and brand deals etc. And that's not even considering his husband and his income too. I can see presenting in his future as opposed to making his rounds on the reality circuit as much as I'd love to see him on Strictly.
