I wondered if they (unfairly) had two weeks to get to know and practise this dance. If he knew he was missing a week. Presumably Amy knew what was coming up. I just hate how she flirts with everyone all innocently like, and totally exaggerates her Welsh accent- so fake

How long has Katie been in Hollyoaks? I’m just wondering if the offer of Strictly came up before Hollyoaks and she didn’t want to then say no to Strictly? But I don’t watch Hollyoaks so I may be way off. I just feel Gorka and Katie don’t seem happy, and when he rebuffed people saying similar it was a case of the gentleman doth protest too much?
A bit like when Gemma Collins was on DOI, Matt really took to replying to people when they commented.

Tilly has apparently told friends she sees Nikita as ‘like a brother’ and they’re just friends. Well that was obvious!

I didn’t realise Kai was with his ex for 5 years and they only split in the summer? AJ says she never meets anyone, only through work. I wonder if they will get together then?!

I missed the show last night so am just catching up now. I cried at Rose and Gio! Love that music but thought it was beautifully danced - they seem to have a powerful connection and it’s a joy to watch them dance.

I’m seeing Gio in a different light because of their friendship! It looks like they are genuinely fond of each other and enjoy taking the piss.

Okay, I was working last night so I'm just catching up now. Cried at the pro dance. Cried at Rose, that was just beautiful and she is bringing out a humble, tender side of Giovanni - he looked emotional. AJ was incredible. Ugo is deliciously built ❤ Haven't got to J&J yet but I suspect I may need peeling off the floor.

Ooh, I wasn't expecting them to save Judi! I liked Katie's dance more, but she wasn't getting the votes so it was probably kinder to send her home. Shame we won't be seeing more of Gorka this series though.

Yes, this is pretty much how I feel - a shame as Katie seemed nice but just on the back foot from the start and it's probably for the best rather than being in a likely dance off again next week. Gutted about Gorka though - I hope he gets his mojo back as he did so well last year

I agree regarding couples choice. Even if it was thrown in as a 2nd dance on a week when there are less couples. People tend to be over marked for it and don’t go out having done it. It’s a shame then for others doing a dance like a samba or rumba the same week.

Been trying to work out what it is exactly that I don’t like about Katie dancing. Because she seems like she’s a nice person overall.
I think it’s because she’s so flat. It always looks like she’s only putting half the effort in? Maybe that’s why gorka seems a bit off with her too?

Yes, if they all did couple's choice on the same week it would make it more of an event week and they might get competitive about producing something really great like a good flamenco or tap routine rather than flouncing around.

I would love it if they branched out beyond the generic wafty/contemporary/showdance style CC (though not as much as I’d love it if they scrapped it altogether).

Nina could have done an awesome CC that combined her tap dancing and classical Indian dance background - shame she never got to do one.

He did, the show we were at was when he was eliminated!

I thought so too - a softer, more chocolatey tone might have been better

I like the mix up of pros they’ve done this year. Graz is coming out of his shell and seems dead nice! Nadiya and Nancy also. I don’t think Gorka is vibing with Katie at all.

I agree. When they originally introduced CC, there were three distinct categories - Street/Commerical, Theatre/Jazz and Contemporary - but I can't recall those categories being mentioned this year. And last year, everyone except Caroline did Street/Commerical which defeats the point because it's hardly different from a lot of the show dances we see in the final.

The only CC I've ever loved was Faye and Giovanni's stunning Fever dance which made the most of the Jazz theme:

It was 100% forgettable. He was in the dance off with Simon Rimmer dressed as the spaceman from Toy Story

That’s pretty much my favourite dance ever on Strictly! Incredible choreography, really well executed.

It was stunning and played to Faye's strengths really well. It worked because it was unique unlike most of the CC dances. While I'm not a CC fan, I am looking forward to seeing what Rose and Gio do because I could see them producing something very different but equally powerful.

She really was. Stacey and Joe never came close to her standard even in the final. I still find myself going and watching her Couples' Choice and Charleston. Unfortunately she had no chance of winning since she was a ringer and Giovanni was not the chosen one aka "King Kev."
