Stacey's showdance was not her best work! But as you say, she was the nailed on winner.

Masie and Gorka's Christmas-themed showdance has been my favourite of recent years

I loved it too really unexpected to go Christmas themed.

Kelvin’s entire showdance was literally made up of aspects of his best dances? Kai’s not daft, he’s had experience on 2 finals and knows what he’s doing i’m sure.

Kevin had even more finals under his belt when he crafted Stacey's disaster of a showdance!
One positive aspect is it's likely Kai will be the main choreographer, he is an excellent choreographer and knows AJs strengths so keeping over excited outside choreo teams away for their showdance is a good thing.

And also the fact that AJ is miles ahead of Stacey when it comes to dancing. I think it makes sense to incorporate elements of AJ’s strongest dances throughout the show!

Katie has posted that she is at Elstree with Gorka, presumably rehearsing for the final group dance

Even the the pros probably do still have a lot of say when it comes to the showdance, I think the producers now have way more input over both that dance and the final as a whole, and how it all balances out - last year's 4 showdances all had quite a different feel which I don't think was an accident. It wouldn't surprise me if they now have final say on both the 'choice' dances too

I suspect all 3 dances are a collaboration between Judges, Pros and Producers rather than the Judges choose one dance and the couples choose another there will be a bit of give and take to make the show flow with a mix of high energy and slower more emotive dances.

Yeah, I think their priority is to just put together an entertaining show that's 'final-worthy' (and they did a great job on this front with the semi final).

And ideally avoid getting lots of comments on twitter saying 'wtf was that' after someone does a weird-arse, self-indulgent showdance

*stares pointedly at Kevin Clifton*

Does anyone else feel like the introduction of the couples choice really takes the shine off the show dance? Lots of the CC are like what we’d have traditionally seen in a show dance and I feel like it makes the show dance less special, because we’ve already had the ‘wow’ moment. Thinking back to some of my faves (Matt Baker, Louis Smith, Caroline Flack), that’s the kind of thing we’d get in a CC now.

:ROFLMAO: After that dance I have no doubt the choreo team have been way more involved and it shows the last couple of years showdances have been great and the couples have been sure to name check the choreographer.
Self-indulgence is exactly why I hate those sort of 'best bits' show dances it's all about the couples favourite moments, about their experience rather than the audience that voted to keep them in week after week.
The audience has just watched them repeat two dances from earlier in the series we want something fresh for the showdance otherwise it just comes across as lazy and self-indulgent.

in my opinion i dont think it matters dance wise what happens because everyone has there favourite by now and will vote for them regardless.

Zoe Ball interview with aj and Kai at 8.15 this morning. Showdance will be a mix of her best bits and is to ‘an iconic girl singer’ . Immediate thought is Beyonce? Zoe also slipped in ‘You two should be together’ right at the end, naughty girl!
Aw I was hoping for an old Hollywood, Fred and Ginger type routine from them. They're always my favourite showdances!
