Oh god no I doubt it was but the point I was making was it was obviously a huge thing and whether their marriage was rock solid or no, it made Neil look like a tit (not his own doing for once!) and from what @soccergirl has said before, she still gets a lot of hate for it. And they split up fairly quickly after if my memory serves me correctly. That’s why I don’t understand why she worded it the way she did.

It was oddly phrased! maybe she meant that they had had a strong friendship before the indiscretion by the bins. But as @QuirkyFlamingo says, whatever she said there would be scrutinised.
I think it's lovely she has such a strong friendship with Ed and Mike. They both seem like genuinely good people.

I wasn’t criticising what she had said, just commenting on the way she worded it - I found it odd considering all that had had gone on. It was the same when Gorka spoke about Alexandra Burke, of course people are interested when things don’t fit the Strictly wholesome, BFF rhetoric.

I really like Katya and I don’t think it’s fair that people blame her solely for what happened. And I could see the friendships she made do mean a lot to her so it’s understandable she’d want to focus on that. But I totally agree, in some quarters there will be people waiting to trip her up.

It would have been dreadful if she/the show had handled that element of her segment differently in my opinion.

It would have been poor to have some sort of shade or snark thrown in at Seann, or to ignore him. I recall him working really bloody hard, despite having no natural ability. Katya is a nicer person than that, her statement about him when they went out was lovely, and ultimately I get the feeling they are on very distant but good terms anyway. They know the truths of what went on between them and understand how it feels to weather the enormous personal backlash of ultra public vilification and twisting of anything you say or do.

The dancers are meant to support the celebrities, they are the ones taking part in something out of their comfort zone. Imagine the optics if they’d done it differently.

As an aside Teresa from the costume department is often friendly with Seann on Instagram so it doesn’t seem like everyone connected to the show hates him or whatever a lot of fans seem to think.

Oh I am not sure how I feel about that Aliona was dragged hard for doing it with Jay. I know the win is Roses but if you want to fight back you need a big impressive dance to sway the floating voters, a big beautiful classic ballroom would have been a better vote winner.

They know they haven’t a hope, so might as well showcase in a big sassy way! Also I think Gio is planning a ballroom based one. I’m sure there is a lot of chat between him, Kai and Jojo to make sure they don’t clash. I’m still so chuffed those 3 besties are in a final together.

I feel like Rose and Giovanni might be doing a ballroom based dance, so wonder if they’re trying to differentiate themselves a bit

I'm finding it hard to predict! It's been a strong series so all of the couple have a few likely dances. If their show dance is like that, makes sense they would do a ballroom for one of the others, though

What others are doing should be of no consideration! I would be seriously disappointed in Kai if he capitulated to Gio.

I would be surprised if AJ doesn't do her Jive they have both mentioned how much it means to them plus a chance to get a 40 with it.



I have been looking at the stats for the last 5 finals the Charleston, Quickstep, Samba, Jive are all regulars.
If it's a ballroom dance (other than Quickstep) it tends to be the American Smooth or the Viennese Waltz.

Didn’t Oti do the same thing for Kelvin and look how that turned out! Isn’t that the whole point in a showdance, to show all of the celebs best bits?

No it's never been to show the best bits, the best ones are completely fresh dances that show off the celebs skills and tells a story.
I do wonder if Kai is thinking that 3 winners have done a medley Stacey, Kelvin and Jay all won doing those sorts of dances but all 3 were nailed on winners.
The past few years Jason and the choreo team have worked on the showdances to keep the standards high so hopefully they can help Kai to craft an actual dance and not just a medley of movements.

Stacey's showdance was not her best work! But as you say, she was the nailed on winner.

Masie and Gorka's Christmas-themed showdance has been my favourite of recent years

Kelvin’s entire showdance was literally made up of aspects of his best dances? Kai’s not daft, he’s had experience on 2 finals and knows what he’s doing i’m sure.
