Some really weird song choices tonight making it hard to tell what was good and what was bad. Couple’s Choice is always hard to gauge, but when you add in a song from a kids’ musical…it just made for a weird dance. Technically it looked pretty good but it’s just a strange song for them to dance to. Then Rose and Gio were hampered by a song that featured a load of dialogue. Tom was awful though, I can say that with confidence. He looked like he was in pain and confused as to why Amy was launching herself at him. It’s a lift you’ve practised all week, Tom! You should be expecting this to happen!
 
Late to the party again (up the ‘Pool!), can’t wait to read the comments but here’s my take:

Do we need a pro dance at the beginning of the Saturday show too?

Motsi’s hair! Cynthia’s dress!

AJ and Kai - from their VT, I don’t think they’re partaking in the horizontal tango (with each other). Beautifully danced and great start to the show. The waltz rarely sets the heather on fire for me and she doesn’t deserve to be in the dance off again. But…nothing puts me off a dancer more than unnecessary tears, especially when they don’t normally do it.

Rhys and Nancy - he’s too much for me. Technically he’s good but he overdances imo. He needs to go soon before he starts knocking out better all round dancers. As we say where I am, his face was tripping him with the comments.

But Cynthia said the fact he’s enjoying himself is important so on that basis Dan should get to the final 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Tom and Amy - I was about to give him credit for not having a sob story then broke down about his fit and health, alive sister who has a successful career? Get in the bin!! Dances like that are pretty lost on me and it was predictable and half hearted. Best bit of it all was Russell Crowe having no idea who he was or what he was meant to talk about 😂. He must work on his poker face as a matter of urgency.

Rose and Gio - him signing at the beginning! Shirley was desperate to point out the mistake. Good on Cynthia for learning some sign language. Love how she reacts to her criticism and scores - Rhys, Tom and John could learn something from imo.

John and JoJo - nice flasher mac JoJo! Too much out of hold for me, didn’t recognise it as a waltz. Safe is the right word Anton but “comfortable in receiving” is maybe not the best phrase Shirley 😬.

Tilly and Nikita - it wasn’t my fave style of dance but she danced it well. Complete u-turn from Shirley and I’m not sure it deserved full marks but I’m glad she’s unlikely to be in the dance off. And as a daddy’s girl who misses her pops every day, I loved what Big G said about her in the VT.

Dan and Nadiya - I have seen wayyyy worse Charlestons than that! He was one of the better dances of the night and deserved his score.

I am praying to the Strictly gods that Tom is in the dance off because I don’t think he could knock anyone out tonight.
