I’m confused as to why this crime is being discussed on this thread, wouldn’t it be better placed for discussion on the real life crime and murder one as it’s nothing to do with the Southport attack?
But just to say, the article I’ve just read (from the above mentioned thread and it is DM so ya know) states the police don’t even know what the attacker looks like…

Press also reported it was a terror attack but police say they don’t have a motive yet!

Celebrating the 650 years since the founding of a German town with a ‘Festival of Diversity’.
I suppose it could be justified by saying things have changed over 650 years but I’d hope there would also be just a wee bit of the 650 year history highlighted somewhere in the celebrations.

I’ll reserve my belief for now.
I’m not saying this couldn’t be the case but really, it could be anyone with any motive, or none.
As far as I know the perpetrator hasn’t been caught so, obviously, motive would be impossible to determine at this stage.
ETA: I saw an early photo of a victim lying under a tarpaulin with his/her arm sticking out and they looked white, obviously that could have been the lighting. The perpetrator was said to be randomly stabbing people in the neck so could just have been those who happened to be in their vicinity
Pretty sobering image though.

I think it was Bild which also immediately said it was a terrorist attack. Police are now saying they're going to release information ASAP (in the next couple of hours or so) to counter some fake news going around (as reported on BBC).

I think this was a small part of the entire celebrations. There is 3 days of celebrations, spread over many different stages, lots of different acts...acrobats, cabaret, live music.
I have not seen a breakdown of the celebrations in the news stories but will post if I do.

As soon as it is reported anywhere , verified by authorities or not...the likes of Abhijit and Tommy Robinson decide to repeat.
Abhijit is very pro Indian and Anti Muslim.
Like we keep saying though, this is how quickly this type of information spreads...hence, the need for authorities to issue information-which is not easy when they are trying to manage the initial crime!

There is a large,established Turkish community in the area. There have been local protests in recent months by the Turkish/Bulgarian community, after an arson attack.
