Its not even the biscoff or whatever that bothers me. Its the 10g of whatever spread theyve used melted when its nowhere near 10g. Harry Prickard does it *all* the time with various things.

I have baked oats almost every day, I do half a banana mashed (makes it sweet without sweetener) 30g oats, 1 egg, 60-80ml of milk, 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Then I add whatever toppings/fillings I want. I like lemon and blueberry, raspberry and white choc (I use the little drops you get in the baking aisle) chocolate orange is nice too with the zest and juice of an orange added and some powdered hot choc. Theyre never more than 350 calories but on SW Id be synning all over the shop for my baked fruit, especially that pesky banana. So I can completely understand why people would rather put a choc bunny on there food and add a metric tonne of sweetener. Made the Pinch Of Nom baked oats once and they were just an eggy disaster. They put 2 eggs in. Do not recommend.

Counselling services would refer their clients with food related issues to Slimming world or Weight Watchers. Calorie counting has now had a lot of exposure through the NHS and is being promoted instead. I like slimming world as it was something nice for my daughter and I to do during the week together on her day off. We would join to lose a bit of weight each before an event. The community is very nice depending where you go and the majority of the consults seem very nice. I do think perceptions of Slimming World are being altered by these over-powering, fame obsessed characters you see on Instagram. I can’t say I have ever seen grand attention seekers like the ones you see on Instagram in real life groups.

My group is stuck in about 1993 😂 most of them are just there for the social side of things, the meetings used to go on forever so I stopped going unless my consultant guilt tripped me into it. My consultant has this really annoying sidekick who has nominated herself as the group aficionado and the oracle of all syn knowledge and replies to all the posts on the Facebook group within 30 seconds.

At the weekend a new member posted saying her husband wanted to treat them to a takeaway from a new restaurant that's opened and what was the best thing for her to get. The sidekick instantly replied saying 'Just don't get it it's not worth it. I'm waiting until I get into the next stone bracket until we try it'. My immediate thoughts were a) so you're never going to try it then because you're the same weight you were when I went to SW the first time three years ago and b) the poor woman's husband being denied getting the takeaway, lord knows there aren't many pleasures to be had in life at the moment. I went on the restaurant's website and looked at the menu and suggested she had this stir fry dish and soup would be the lowest syn starter. Personally I would have just got whatever I wanted but I know what it's like when you're new and you're terrified of going off plan. She posted later on saying she'd got what I suggested so I hope she still gets a loss to prove it's okay for her to get Thai food with her husband if she wants to!

Edit because I put too much detail in there 👀😂

I’ve had 3 consultants in my time, 2 were good. 1 was horrific. i feel like I cant say much as it would easily identify me but I went back to a different class after pregnancy, I had got to target prior to falling pregnant at a different class but my original consultant gave it up, so I thought I’d try a new class. I didn’t have much to lose really, combination of being at target prior to pregnancy, breastfeeding and running after 2 kids. I lost I think 5lbs in my first week (which was obviously water weight) and she made me stand up in front of everyone at my turn in image therapy and said look this woman does not have a lot of weight to lose and she can manage 5lb in her first week so there is no excuse for anyone. Should have been my first red flag but no I continued to attend. She’d make catty comments if you lost 1lb or stayed the same.

The final straw was when a close relative of mine had an accident and I got a phone call about it 20 minutes before going to my class that week, I posted in the Facebook group to say really sorry cant make today but I had a countdown anyway so she’d had her money up front. She had seen the comment, but text me later that evening to say why didn’t I come along to her other classes that week and I needed to prioritise my weight loss, seemed like a generic text she sent everyone who hadnt attended that day, she didn’t reference what I’d put on the FB page. I replied saying well this has happened blah blah. No response. She then continued to bombard me with texts, I eventually said this is too much can you stop messaging me, it’s just not for me, I’ve did SW before and never felt like this. Her response, oh please still come along I’ll just take you off my text message list. I said please do that and no I won’t. I eventually had to block her as she continued to text me and send me stuff via email.

the best part of all of this is she was not at her target weight, I think had been at her target weight for a few months once in all the time she was a consultant. She was not a small lady at all.

Edit - she also used to write really bitchy comments on my food diaries, said I used too many syns (never used over 15 btw) and didnt eat enough free food. I honestly wish I had reported her to SW HQ at the time because she was horrible.

That's shocking :( just seen your edit about food diaries, mine used to make positive comments but then write 'wonder why you aren't having big losses???' similar to you I've never had loads to lose so a loss of 1lb a week is good for me so I was like err, thanks  My consultant is actually really nice but I do find the rest of the group dreary. Have thought about going to a different one but the times are always when I'm at work.

I find the generic texts really annoying 😂 I remember one week I'd put on 1lb which was entirely my own doing because I'd been out on the lash all weekend and had about 50 takeaways which I was totally honest about and gave the group a good laugh, got a text in the week saying 'I know you felt disheartened at weigh in last week because you've been trying so hard' 😂😂😂

Sounds EXACTLY like an old consultant I had.. who told my mum that my grandad dying the week before wasn’t an excuse for a gain and “this is a slimming club you know not just an excuse for you to go out”. Luckily a few people complained and she actually got sacked!!!

I do actually enjoy the SW plan but I hate the aggro you get for not getting massive losses. If I try hard I get 1-1.5 a week maximum which I’m happy with but I feel like I’m constantly told it’s not good enough by the consultants! Then the largest member there will say something like “well I had 2 takeaways this week and I still managed 3lbs!!” Yes babe but I’m about 10 stone lighter than you 🙄

Id honestly never seen anything like it. In my original group they used to talk about that consultant and I did used to think it cant be that bad. No it was.

As much as people say oh the SW ethos isnt like that. Im not so sure. I was on the social team with my original consultant who was absolutely lovely. When she got observed from her area manager she was always sort of told off for her approach and she wasnt strict enough.

So I reckon there must be some pressure for your class to have a certain level of weight loss and if they dont youre judged on it, which would certainly explain why some consultants are the way they are.

Edit 1-1.5lbs per week is a healthy loss and likely to be loss of fat too. SW / consultants dont want to advertise that as the average loss because that doesnt draw people in. People want to believe they can lose 3lbs a week on average every week. I just wish it was plastered everywhere what an average fat loss is. I saw so many people completely disheartened at losing 1lb per week every week but honestly the people I saw just ploughing on at that were the people who got to target and found it easier to stay there.

I notice as well they always say at the end of groups “we lost a total of 100lbs today” just an example.. so I think they are judged by what the whole group loses! Which is so stupid

Possibly we make them look bad then with our 1lb/0.5lb losses. I agree totally I wish that it was advertised that 1lb a week is healthy and sustainable and the science behind that, you have to have been in a 3500 calorie weekly deficit to lose 1lb of what which is quite an achievement if you don’t have loads to lose.

I applied to be on the SW London marathon team and was rejected 😂 got personalised replies when I applied and then for the rejection. Was defo because my story wasn’t inspirational enough and not because I hadn’t proved I was capable! I’m a keen runner. Everyone in group looked at me in disbelief one week I’d only lost 1/2lb and ran a half marathon on the Sunday plus obviously training before it. That’s what carb loading will do huns 🤣

Yes! Omg my local group was the same. If you didn’t have big losses or a loss at all you were skimmed past, what have YOU done wrong.
I don’t doubt for a minute the plan of more speed and protein etc works obviously it’s a calorie deficit. It’s the same influencers who lie and make tit up for their own agenda, making money, and then some consultants who want they’re group weekly loss to be massive not caring how.

I remember my doctor insisted I do it as I have pcos, from 14 I’ve had such a bad relationship with food due to being a failure of not losing 7 lbs a week and 3lbs plus but as many others state the the lower you lose the more likely its actual fat and it keeps off!

Tbh the plan clearly works for some but it’s the way mentally they do it. None of this restriction and binge eating. It’s got its pros and it’s con it’s just for me it’s not the one.

Nothing more annoying the gaining after a week of speed then you’d get heather who’s been on holiday are and drank like made and lost 3lbs 😂

Sorry if it's already been mentioned, I'm still reading through the thread, but does anyone remember that girl, maybe called Emily? Who had a treat plate every week? Filled with cookies, pick n mix, and so much more tit? So healthy!

Yes ylimesalad! Its just a classic binge/restrict cycle isnt it.

You shouldnt have to eat a huge plate of diabetes once a week to maintain your weight. She was at target but obviously wasnt eating enough the other 6 days to maintain it.

Its just such a strange concept to me. Same as the 'cheat day' mentality. It youre on and off plan its not working for you.

I will go over my alloted calories now that I CC but I can see its just a little and it generally doesnt have much affect whereas when I did SW if I had say a takeaway Id be like oh well duck it that was 40 syns or whatever, blown it now, start again tomorrow or next week. I know thats an issue with myself and not essentially SWs problem though.

Binge plates 🤢 I’m so lucky I had consultants who encouraged members to use their syns on meals with things like real gravy, sauces. I also remember one who reminded people 15 syns a day was maximum and not target 🎯 She was also great in educating members that you need to have speed on the plate, not as an after thought as that’s where the loss comes from.

Was she really tall with short hair then stopped posting and disappeared! She lost a lot of weight? People were commenting on her posts asking if she was ok. Maybe I’m on about someone else.
She went vegan and created a new insta that last about one week then she jacked it all

Yes that’s her name! I forgot but remembered it started with a Y
