Sir Keir Starmer #2

Jacqui Smith was awful on that QT (so was Campbell but he was always an arrogant knob).

It's unreal how grifters like Smith and Campbell thieve a living it really is. Viewers really deserve better. Is it any wonder why people like Trump become elected? I've never heard Smith actually answer a question with a straight answer. Still, she isn't alone is she. What I cannot get over is the arrogance of these people, that they actually believe anyone vaguely well read or educated gives a flying duck about their opinions on anything. Smith, Cambell and numerous others of their type really think they are a 'thing' don't they. It's mind-blowing.

It's not surprising people are turning their back on traditional forms of media when they offer-up people like Smith and Campbell. I also cannot abise those other two media whores who pop-up all the time, Kevin McGuire and Andrew Pierce. It doesn't help they are both ugly as sin. Television is a visual medium (last I looked) ... who the hell wants to see them. :ROFLMAO:

I agree, there is something absolutely lacking in Starmer (and most of the cabinet for that matter). It makes me miss the Labour politicians of old.
Tony Benn came to speak at my university back in the early 90s, he was a fantastic orator, completely engaged the audience...I could have listened to him for hours. God knows what he would make of the current Labour leadership!

Tony Benn is likely spinning in his grave. RIP.

The depressing thing is that this Labour government is just a shabbier, slightly less well-off version of the previous administration. When you get down to it, apart from a couple of spiteful policies like the Farmers IHT and VAT on school fees (neither of which will raise much revenue), they are basically Poundland Tories. At least Johnson had charisma even though he was dodgy as duck. Now we’ve just got really badly dressed Tories with zero public speaking skills.

But it actually doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter who gets into power. If you have the time or inclination or can tolerate Dominic Cummings for long enough, this video is a fascinating and frankly horrifying insight into who is really running government and why we have a paucity of good candidates for MPs. There’s a bit where Cummings describes how Cabinet meetings are actually run and you see how even Senior Ministers are interchangeable puppets. Suddenly the Louise Haigh debacle all make sense. (Cummings has an ego the size of Mars; that being said he is very clever and clearly wants to chat as much as his NDA will let him.)

Jacqui Smith was awful on that QT (so was Campbell but he was always an arrogant knob). Have no idea why Starmer has brought her back, does he think that we've forgotten about her various two home scandals or that her husband was expensing his porn? Wonder if Lord Alli paid for her shiny hair makeover. It doesn't suit her, she's too old for it.

That all said, as crap at getting a useful sentence out as she was, she was STILL way better than the rest of his cabinet of buffoons and know-nothings. That's the really scary thing!
And this guttersnipe will get her comeuppance sooner or later. Deputy PM coming out with “jokes” like this in public. What a low rent pos she is.

She's as thick as mince, just got very lucky.

Labour only won because reform split the vote and people were voting anything but tories. They didn't win because people wanted to vote Labour.
At the rate Keirs popularity is falling he'll be below Liz Truss by Christmas.
Labour's result was pretty dire at the election to only get a 1.6% swing despite everyone being sick of the tories.

So how long do you think he can hang on? Surely the likes of Wes Streeting and Andy Burnham must be looking on, wondering whether next summer after the May elections is the time to go on manoeuvres? If they keep haemorrhaging votes to Reform they have to do something? 4.5 years is not long enough to turn this ship around so do they change leader and call an early election and hope they can soldier on with a much reduced majority but a majority all the same?
(Much wishful thinking on my part but Labour are not known for being strategically smart.)

It makes me cringe seeing them representing the country. Absolutely dreadful.

Private Eye made a point this issue about David Lammy and his 'vainglorious' pronouncements regarding tax loopholes and havens (Caymen Islands etc). All mouth and no trousers was essentially the conclusion. I bet he's loving all the dinners and trips abroad though, pretending to be important.

One thing is for sure, unless Starmer gets a grip on immigration he's fucked.

He has no personality because he has no sense of humour. Neither does Phillipson. And certainly not Reeves. And shallow as that may sound, a sense of humour or razor sharp wit is a sign of real intelligence - not learned intelligence. It’s a sign of a human touch. And because he and a lot of his front bench are entirely devoid of this, they will not last.
It’s why love him or loathe him, Farage cuts through. As did Boris. The people who love either of those two, really love them; Starmer inspires at best, indifference, at worst, utter loathing.
I don’t know how much of this our nation has to endure. It makes me want to weep. And I used to be a Labour supporter. (Although not in this GE.) Starmer is just so spectacularly bad at politics.
He's one person I could genuinely believe is potentially one of the Lizzid People, hahaha. There's something "icky" about him, he's got the lurgy!!

Thriving as in the proliferation of Turkish barbers, Vietnamese nail bars, kebab shops, vape shops, bubble tea bars, noodle shops? That type of "small business"??? Follow the money! 💷💶

If proper checks were made, it would likely be found that:

A) Many of these businesses don't pay tax, or don't declare their full taxable earnings.
B) Employ illegal migrant workers.
C) Are used as money laundering for crime gangs, people trying to avoid being taxed, or dodgy money from elsewhere on the world.
D) Sell dodgy and/or counterfeit goods.

It highly annoys me that HMRC will jump on the ordinary, law abiding person and business for every last penny they owe. Yet there are businesses hiding in plain sight that clearly need proper looking at by the relevant authorities. However, as usual, nothing is ever seemingly done.

Except just squeezing more out of those who do the right thing.

Oh dear, Grangela was getting her knickers into a right old twist in that Sky interview yesterday wasn’t she? First there’s a housing crisis, then there’s ”plenty of housing”, then there isn’t and no she can’t explain where Labour’s planned 2m immigrants per year are going to live.
Thicko!
