I think you’re missing the point. I don’t think someone should be making hundred of thousands of dollars for streaming video games for a living. There are plenty of nurses, teachers, blue collar workers, who deserve to make more money but struggle to make ends meet. It’s gotten out of hand how much companies are willing to pay an influencer to sponsor an influencer.

I get where you both are coming from, but we’ve all paid loads of money for entertainment of some form. And while essential workers should most definitely get paid heaps more than they do, Twitch and YouTube viewers/consumers aren’t to blame for this.

But by that would still be happening even if streamers/gamers weren’t as big. athletic teams are entertainers, actors.. musicians.. I’m saying it’s all entertainment for someone so if they choose to pay for it so be it. And if by chance people earn money for the entertainment they’ve given, so be it. They aren’t hurting people.

And companies would pay anyone to sponsor them. For example, that is why there are name brand vending machines at hospitals/common areas.. they pay for it no matter what, but influencers make money so why not gravitate to fast money?

This is what I meant! Thank you! It’s all just entertainment

Ever since I started working from home I have been pretty active on twitch. I love having streams going while I work as it doesn’t make me feel so alone. And although I do watch multiple streamers streams pretty often, I find it almost gross how much people give streamers. It’s so bizarre how people will just give streamers $5, $10, $50, $100, $250, for no reason. I would never give a streamer a dollar that I make. I would rather give my money for someone that actually needs it. I’m all for streamers making a bit of side money, but I feel almost disgusted how so people are so willing to give them enough money to the point streamers are able to make that their job. I’m sorry, but playing video games is not a job. I bet it can be draining being “on” but it doesn’t even compare to a real job. This “influencer” world that we live in is just stupid. You see people who work good jobs like nurses, teachers, business professionals, who are quitting their jobs because they are making just as much if not more playing video games. We are losing valuable, contributing members of society that we NEED all because people are willing to finance their lives because they “like watching them play games.” It’s really sad.

The "not a real job"
Thing annoys me. A job is anything you're paid to do. The ones who make a lot of money, put in a lot of work, it also takes a lot of nothing to get there in the first place. They didn't just start making money instantly. A lot of them were working a full time job then streaming afterwards day in day out before they even got anywhere.
Others got where they were for competing top level in gaming competitions.

Providing entertainment is a job.
People pay for Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Spotify, pay to go to the cinema, pay to go to concerts.
It's all the same. It's all entertainment.

The amount of people making decent money from streaming etc is very minimal. It just seems a lot because you see them all grouped together there on twitch or YouTube.

The biggest majority of big streamers, get their money from sponsorships. Same as most sports teams.

Anywaaaaaay, has everyone heard about the new high school pack leak? I watch Plumbella’s video on it (zoned about after the 100th tiktok reference though) will be interesting to see how this works and affects game play

I'm curious about how they'll pass this as an EP. I think this would be a great opportunity to develop a better memory system, what will all the teen drama and important milestones and "firsts", but I doubt they would go this far. I think it has the potential of being fun and I'm all for adding content to normal gameplay, but as always, my expectations are low.

It would be lovely to get a Memories noticeboard like the Sims 2 had. That was always such fun, tracking the story though that (Don Lothario in that game had a set of memories that was especially hilarious, considering he was sleeping with half the town!)

I'm dying you guys

THERE'S JUST NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY TO DO MY JOB !!!

Sometimes it’s like bots commenting.
The funny thing is, I'm guessing this has more to do with the new GP coming out at the end of the week than anything else. Still kind of lame she's cancelling yet again, but from what I understand, they aren't given a ton of time to create content before they are allowed to start uploading videos related to the new packs. So I can actually understand her (to a point) on this one.

But that being said, if her job really is causing Deli this much constant stress and anxiety, maybe she should stop doing it and go back to working in graphic design. I left my old caregiving job because it was too much and I realized I'd be better off doing something else. So I found another job and my anxiety and depression have gotten so much more manageable. Maybe she should do the same.

Oh, absolutely! I actually do not find anything wrong with her post. She clearly stated she won't be streaming for a while, which is better than continuing cancelling a few hours before stream. She's never been a regular streamer. I can imagine all simmers are probably recording Werewolves today to have something out tomorrow.
This was more directed at her followers and the constant need to write the same supportive comments.

They get the Furry Werewolf Pack late today and can start posting reviews Wed/Thursday apparently, which is a damn short timescale to investigate, create and edit a coherent and entertaining video on a brand new aspect of gameplay. Especially when you consider they had the Cottage Living pack for at least a week or so before the pack released and they could take a bit of time to form opinions and prerecord a bunch of videos.

So yeah, probably you wouldn't want to stream today if you know you're going to have to create something that will hopefully be a massive viewer draw for your channel.

She didn’t even give a reason of why she’s cancelling?
Yet for whatever reason people will subscribe and give them her money when she doesn’t even stream very often. 🙄 when people do that they are paying for entertainment they aren’t getting. That’s wrong.

I’m a family gameplay type of person, so the idea of a high school EP is exciting to me. BUT there is something about this leak I just don’t find very convincing. Remember when there was that “farming” leak right before eco lifestyle came out? People were SO convinced it was real and were SO angry when it eco lifestyle was announced instead. I was hesitant with that leak, mainly because I really wanted it but didn’t want to get my hopes up just in case it was fake. It was a pretty convincing leak yet it still was fake. In a sims group I commented that I was trying to not get my hopes up and would like horses, but was going to believe it once I see it. This one chick replied saying I was stupid because it was a real leak and that horses was written into the games code so it was pretty much “guaranteed” we were getting horses. 😂 well jokes on her I guess…. Sims kids can be ruthless over nothing…

Another disadvantage of working as a streamer or youtuber is that you can have too much control of your working day. On the surface this looks great but I've heard some youtubers say that they burnt out by overworking because if they took time off they felt guilty. An example of this is plumbella and steph who make a ton of content in a short space of time which they cannot keep up with so their mental health suffers and they take a break. Arguably the same could be true for Deligracy or vixella but I'm not sure if it's just laziness burnout or loss of interest in the game or a combination.

I feel like Deligracy is the kind of person who feels content with not doing much. Like, "wow I just posted a video today, that's great, I can take care of myself for the rest of the day because I worked hard today". Or she'll take 4 hours to work on the sims but take tiny breaks here and there and in the end she doesn't work the 4 hours but she feels like she worked hard. Like you said, you have too much control of your working day and you can lose track of your objectives. I'm thinking of myself here a little bit : I'm not working right now so I'm staying at home pretty much all the time and I will feel satisfied after doing a bunch of things and feel like "oh my day was full today", but the truth is I spent huge amount of little time here and there doing duck all like posting this for example. 😂 🤭
