Probably getting it free from morrisons, then keeps the cash. All the supermarket do funds if about 1000 that they give out to the community. He could easily apply for these on behalf of the foodbanks.
I've never bought food to put in a donation basket, I've never bought food to donate to a foodbank at all.
Like most people I donate cash straight to the foodbank and I also manage to not post about it on social media.
I bet he's taken photos and worn about him giving food to a homeless person before, he's definitely the type to do that.

He really should have given them the money. He's gone for all the typical stuff but there's only so much baked beans and pasta one person can eat and it doesn't exactly give a varied diet. Protein, diary, toiletries, household products are the things the foodbanks lack. Not another 100 bags of pasta.
But just giving them the money wouldn't give them him the kudos he craves, and would make him being a middle man pointless because he could just point people to their Facebook groups.

Always remember, charity isn’t about people less fortunate than yourself. It’s not about selflessly making sacrifices so that those in need may be afforded opportunities that they otherwise might’ve missed. It’s not about that warm, fuzzy feeling you get from knowing that you contributed to improving somebody else’s lot and helped to make society a better place.

The lunatics in the Dad Behaving Badly comment-section asylum are all chiming in, clutching their pearls about heartless mercenaries who think poor people don’t deserve to eat chocolate.
A quick scan of the comments on his food bank posts (there aren’t many) reveals that the number of people who have criticised Simon for putting chocolate in, is… *drum roll please*

I'm gonna speak up as someone who has worked at a foodbank. Everyone thinks it's a good idea to include chocolate treats and crisps, fizzy pop etc. But because everyone thinks it, like everyone thinks of pasta as a great cupboard food. They have tons and tons and are really lacking fresh fruit, or even tinned fruit. People going to foodbanks end up on a non varied, not great diet.
This is why money donations are great as they can buy dairy and protein rich foods, pay their bills and rent.
I really hope people listen to the lists of items the foodbanks actually need eg toiletries, washing powder, donations.
And not this twit who seems to know so little about foodbanks, I doubt he's even taken the time to talk to the people who work there after he's got his photo opp of delivering and then fucks off.

I doubt he gave them the option of just having a donation as there’s no photo op in a bank transfer, and if they’d asked him for tinned fruit, his little Homer Simpson brain would’ve just gone, “Chocolate.
