This is so interesting, I really liked the yoghurt scene but because of what it showed of Samantha, not Carrie. I liked that they showed she had a way to be ‘maternal’ and look after people without choosing to have children.

They are so downplaying of everything Miranda is going through is infuriating. They also totally glossed over how she actually managed to make it out to Mexico with no notice 😂

Onto the 2nd film. Carrie is such a shallow witch. Whining on they’ve stayed in 2 nights a week and their relationship will die for having a tv in their room 😂
I actually thought the tv that Big got her for a present was one of the nicest things that he had done for Carrie, especially when he said it was because he enjoyed the night they both watched a black and white film together.

She then gets all stroppy and says its ok as an occasional thing.

She doesn't seem very confident in their marriage if she thinks staying in and watching TV would ruin it!

I loved Carrie through all the series but for some reason she turned into a bit of a dick in the second film.

She always seems to seek ways on how to run things for herself, she can never accept a good or nice thing

Probbaly like so many women the world over!!

when she drags Big to the premier (which he didn't want to go to) then whilst they're there, he starts talking to Penelope Cruz and Carrie walks over and says, "i'm ready to go now" after they've been there about an hour. When they're home, she starts complaining and refers to her as 'Bank of Madrid' - bit rude.
In the second film, it's kind of like she always wanted more but it was never enough. I try to not include it in the 'SATC story' as it was so bad!

They try and present her as an intellectual writer. She writes a sex column.

Big has an actual job which is buying her a penthouse because she spends all her money on shoes and couldn’t afford her own apartment without borrowing from friends. But he can’t watch a bit of TV and stay in after being to actual work. She’s a tosspot in that movie.

yeah I agree, she always came across as selfish but the second move was just unbelievable. tbh I am surprised sny of the actors agreed to be in that awful second film

Do you know what done my head in with the first movie?

When Louise, her PA (Jennifer Hudson) returns her call about the password to her locked email account. Louise says she's shopping for her wedding dress but all Carrie cares about is the price of her bloody designer shoes. She doesn't even acknowledge what Louise says. It's petty, I know but just further shows how selfish Carrie was.

I can still remember the feeling I had watching the second movie in the cinema. A mixture of second-hand embarrassment, severe disappointment and abject fear.

By the time it got to the bit where the muslim women all reveal their designer clothes under their niqabs (sorry if I’ve got that term wrong, haven’t seen the movie for years and can’t remember exactly what they were wearing), I had shrunk so low in my seat that I struggled to get back up again.

It’s one of the most racist, misogynist and anti-Islam movies of our lifetime in my opinion. You’d have thought SATC would become more culturally sensitive over time, not less!

exactly my thoughts! some (quite a lot of the episodes) do have various storylines which seem quite backward now, but it was very much a different time, but for the second movie to be so offensive was just shocking!

I cant wait to find out where they are at, loads has changed it seems.
Both her and Miranda were really weird, patronising cows to the sales assistant in that episode too, sneering at her shop and the dresses in it. You know, the shop that literally no one forced them to go into, and waste the sales assistants time.
At least they would have had to buy the dress they tore so she got a sale

Not sure how I feel about this! It will be the carrie show again!
I loved John Corbett in Northern Exposure. That is his defining role. I wish they would stream it somewhere, it’s 100 quid for the bluray set.
