Yes it is ALL about Harry and Steve! I ignore the Steve cheating storyline because I just don’t believe it or want it to be true!
The whole Steve cheating scenario really annoyed me. Firstly, because it was just not believable. But also because all of the women thought and openly voiced their opinions that Miranda should take him back. Carrie was even rude about it. But they all thought that Carrie shouldn't take Big back because he jilted her.

In my opinion, both the actions of Steve and Big were deplorable. But why should Steve be forgiven so easily for cheating just because his wife hadn't had sex with him for a few months (which btw, that's a completely petty excuse for cheating in my book) but Big was the devil for jilting poor Carrie.

Both actions caused extreme hurt to the women. But obviously Carrie's hurt was way worse than Miranda's cause you know, she is the Carrie Bradshaw, after all.

Totally unnecessary drama between Carrie and Miranda 🙄

I thought the steve story was pretty believable, lots of people cheat around that time as the man feels "neglected". What I hated was the part in the film with sam critising her bikini line.... any feminist credidetials the show had ended then for me

Miranda got a bit of a raw deal in the first movie, in my opinion anyway. For me, it was the way they all looked at Miranda when she admitted how long it had been since she had last had sex with Steve. Their faces practically said it was her fault he cheated.

Totally agree with this. Some women don’t want to have sex every day, and that’s as ok as women who have it twice a day! The storyline could have been much more supportive to Miranda and women in that situation, but instead it was made out she was in the wrong.

totally agree, I don't think this kind of storyline would really work today in a show aimed at women especially

Yeah, and it had such a blasé attitude towards cheating. As if it's okay for a man to cheat if the reason is because he feels sexually neglected by his partner. It was all sort of glossed over. Never truly addressing the reason behind why they weren't connecting sexually. Miranda was a busy woman in the midst of a heavy career while raising a child. But it was as if being tired after a day's work isn't a good enough reason not to be having sex and therefore gives her husband a right to cheat.

None of her friends were supportive of her during that time, she felt hurt and betrayed by the person that was supposed to love her the most. Is it any wonder she said what she did to Big the night before he jilted Carrie?

When I first saw the film I really enjoyed it but now, looking back, I realise how awful it was, particularly in terms of body-shaming.

I hate that with Miranda and later there was the whole 'Samantha getting fat' storyline which was atrocious. First off there was literally no difference in how she looked, I remember watching it, squinting my eyes, thinking "have I missed something?" when Antony accused her of having a "gut". But even if she HAD piled on the pounds, how appalling was it to write that in? A near 50-year-old woman not being allowed to gain any weight and being body-shamed for it?!

Agree! I thought the Samantha weight scene was in very poor taste. Like you said, there was absolutely no difference in her body.

And when they were all sitting around eating cake and Carrie says: "I mean this with love, but how could you not notice?" She's referring to Samantha's practically non existent gut. I was like, what???? If anything, she had put on maybe 1-2 pounds. Hardly anything to worry about or even notice. It was complete body shaming and feeding into the whole women have to look super skinny and be perfect at all times narrative that's been around, and appallingly accepted for far too long.

Completely agree with this. What happened to Carrie was treated like the biggest tragedy on earth but a cheating husband and father was nothing. Miranda got barely any support yet princess Carrie was treated like a delicate child. I can only put it down to Miranda being a stronger woman then Carrie who can handle more

Omg I thought Berger was totes gorg. I'd even forgive him for the post-it breakup note.

I know he gets a bad rep but I actually thought Berger was the most suited to Carrie out of all of her boyfriends. He was a perfect middle ground between Big and Aiden. Before the writers decided to switch lanes and turn him into a whiny insecure douche, he was actually fine beforehand.

The scene in Mexico when Carrie takes to her bed for days really annoyed me too. Especially when Samantha is feeding her the yoghurt. I cringed so hard at that part. I'm assuming it was meant to portray their close friendship and how they look out and after one another. But it was too much and just came across as pathetic.

On that faux honeymoon, there were 2 broken hearts but only Carrie's was catered to. Even at the dinner in the restaurant in Mexico, Miranda is basically shut down when she talks about her relationship and the conversation is steered back to Carrie and her hurt.

No man should ever jilt a woman, but Big was always a flight risk. And for Carrie to blame Miranda for ruining her marriage because of what she said to Big at the rehearsal dinner was just absurd. Carrie was never going to be happy unless there was some sort of drama between her and Big and the second movie proved that. She thrived off the chase.

yeh even the fact that miranda made such a big deal of it was odd. none of them come across as women more like teenagers

Completely agree. Obviously what happened to Carrie was horrible, no denying it but the portrayal of the delicate princess/yoghurt eating was silly. When Samantha made the insensitive comment about Mirandas bikini line, would it have killed one of them to run after her and check she was ok? Poor Miranda received no support and they were all rooting for Steve because he made a mistake! Yet Big is the antichrist. You're absolutely right about Carrie's need for drama. The 2nd tit show of a film proved that. She got her man, was married to him living in a penthouse but she still wasn't happy. What should she do? Kiss her ex boyfriend! Bigs response to that was to buy her a bigger ring. Ridiculous.

Up to series 6 thankfully Berger is long gone (I did enjoy the post it episode, and when she goes crazy with his friends at the club 😂)

Why did she go with Petrovsky he was such an old weirdo from the beginning 😂

The Post it episode where Carrie loses it at Bergers friends is one my absolute fave episodes. I love it. Laugh my ass off everytime, especially the scene where Carrie gets caught smoking weed with her hood up in front of the cop 🤣

The diamond ring scene at the end of the second movie was utterly ridiculous. I mean, come on, what person in their right mind would gift their partner an expensive piece of jewellery in response to them basically cheating?

I understand the writers were trying to suggest that since Big had jilted Carrie at their first wedding, that he wasn't really in a position to act sanctimonious over Carrie's behaviour, but still. It was unbelievable and like rewarding toxic bad behaviour in a relationship. And Carrie forgave him for jilting her and chose to marry him but then goes looking for attention from her ex. Toxic drama queen.

In the second movie, Carrie is so nasty to Charlotte. Sure, Charlotte views marriage in a more traditional way, but when she tells Carrie that she's playing with fire for having dinner with Aiden, Carrie is so horrible to her and calls her crazy which hurts Charlotte's feelings and almost makes her cry, but nobody says anything to her about it. Miranda sort of comforts Charlotte, but doesn't tell Carrie she's out of order.

And when Samantha lands a date with Rickard and asks the girls to go shopping to help her look for a suitable date outfit, selfish Carrie, again makes it all about her by acting like a spoiled child and refuses to go all because the New Yorker gives a bad review of her latest book. That part really annoyed me. As a writer myself, I understand that not everyone is going to like or love my work and most writers learn to take the bad reviews along with the good and move on. It doesn't give anyone a pass to treat their friends like utter crap.

Omg I’m glad I’m not the only one who cringed at the yoghurt scene. When I got dumped, yes I stayed in bed for a week and cried but I didn’t get spoon fed food. I just found it utterly cringe!

I didn’t like the Charlotte shitting herself part either
Yeah, same regarding Charlotte. It was obviously the amount of chocolate puddings she consumed that caused it, but the movie made it seem as if it was because she opened her mouth in the shower and swallowed a miniscule drop of water that made her poop her pants.
