Rewatching this now the more I think she was better suited to Aiden. Big seems so controlling and almost coercive in some of his behaviours.

I appreciate Carrie was never the kids / family type, so maybe it is better that they end up together now they’ve both lived their respective paths.
I would agree with you but I'm rewatching season 2 SATC at the mo (for about the sixth time) and she really is bloody awful. She's needy and neurotic and selfish. Big seems completely normal to me and I would never have said that before. She expects all her friends to indulge her and poo poos them when they say she needs therapy (as well as belittling the idea). I do agree that now all the tit is out of way they are better placed to be together but not sure they will ever really be on the same page because she is so self absorbed.

Aiden still has a 14 year old though? He still needs to be very much in that boy's life. It doesn't make sense to just throw all that away for someone who didn't want him 20 odd years ago. And Carrie is so selfish and such a narcissist, she will be like it's Me And NYC or You, Your Family And The Farm. He can't come out good picking her.

Big and Aiden were both awful choices. What she needs is a new man who will call her out on her tit and allow her to finally grow the duck up.

Yea! 🙏

I think feels more relaxed around Aidan and knew that he wanted her more than she wanted him so she had the upper hand whereas she was always chasing Big. Kissing Aidan in Dubai just to prove that she could still have him but now he’s had a family and there’s competition for his affection and she’s not as sure if she can get him so she’s enjoying the chase so to speak. I thought her tone when she asked about how the chicken got into the house was circling back to how dismissive she was of his house inthe woods.

Did Carrie never want kids though? She was upset that Alex didn’t want any.
I think she was ambivalent and then just did what Big wanted,- just like she did on their wedding day which it appeared set a precedent for their whole marriage.
I think it’s interesting she is thinking about how her life might have been had she have chosen Aiden. Don’t forget Iaiden mentioned his wife was paranoid about Carrie being his ‘one that got away’. I’m guessing her and the kids will dislike her.
Regarding the bra thing, wearing bras so people can’t see you are wearing one, seems so twee, misogynistic and people pleasing.
I like a bra strap on show.

I like a bra strap on show.

I once dated a guy who was always full of compliments (overly so tbh) until one evening we were at a bar and I was wearing a dress with thin straps, with my bra straps visible.

When he leaned in and said, "now this, I don't like", gesturing to my straps, he got the sharp end of my tongue and I remember being (what felt at the time) disproportionately angered by his comment.

I was about 22, he was 10 years older, and I ended things soon after. The incident always stayed with me though, and it's only years later, reading this comment, that I realise that I was entirely justified in my anger, and that it was absolutely a misogynistic red flag.

Well he sounds like a complete narcissist and you were completely justified and more in telling him to get in the bin. I hope he learnt an important lesson…

I might be controversial here but I don't see anything wrong with him stating that he didn't like a fashion choice. He didn't demand you that you go home and change.

Have you never told a partner that you don't like something that he wears?

I had a boyfriend who got agitated when I wore a dress over trousers. It was fashionable at the time and yes, it did look a bit silly (genuinely only a bit!) but it just bothered him so much that it made me very self-conscious and made me second-guess myself when picking outfits for dates with him.
Basically it wasn't what he said, it was how he said it. Looking back I think he was a bit controlling. After the dress over trousers incident he'd often "compliment" me by saying "now THIS I like" and that annoyed me more than the initial comment 😆
It reminds me of that viral tweet by the guy who gave his kid a slightly burnt toastie a couple of years ago, and whenever he asks what the kid wants to eat they still reply "well not a burnt toastie" 😛

We don't know much about any of the families and they are never mentioned which is odd.
On one of the podcasts I listen to, they said that it was a deliberate choice by the producers to not give very much detail about any of their families or have them appear in the show much because they very much wanted to paint a picture of the 4 women being each other's chosen families.

Let's not forget Carrie complaining that Aiden was "too available" and that she liked the "thrill of the hunt" or words to that effect! They didn't go together back then, and I just don't think they're any more suited to one another this time around. Carrie still seems to want to be the girl about town, I can't see her willingly morphing into The Pioneer Woman and cooking up a storm for Aiden and his 3 lads. Also, what is it with her and her men's exes? Big's ex (the kids book publisher) The Russian's ex (why meet her? No need!) and did I read she meets Aiden's ex?!

Carrie wants to reassure herself that she is "better" than the other women, I mean witch they are ex's, maybe the women got fed up of the men and dumped them and are now laughing to themselves that you have to tolerate their nonsense, nonsense like a chicken coming into the house and laying an egg on your bed, good luck dealing with that in Prada. Oh new episode title "Which came first, the chicken or the Chanel?"
