I want to just start by saying, I love Aidan. He’s my kinda guy, right up my street. I’ve loathed Carrie since season 4 (only disliked her up til that point), as a direct result of her abysmal treatment of the lovely man.

Season 3 Aidan was adorable. Great guy, caring, adored Carrie and was such a gentleman. Carrie was attracted to him and perhaps he made her feel safe but I couldn’t see what they had in common. She cheated on him and he told her he knew himself too well to get past that. The end. Bad Carrie, lovely, gracious Aidan.

Season 4 Aidan was sexier but he never forgave Carrie. She begged him to give her another chance but his actual life didn’t interest her. it was like she just didn’t want anyone else to have him. She detested his country house (that he self built and was proud of). I couldn’t understand why she wanted to be with someone she did not relate to on any level. She physically rejected anything he wanted for their future, vomiting at the sight of an engagement ring, taking an allergic reaction to a wedding dress, wearing the ring on a chain around her neck and having a melt down when he tried to knock down her apartment wall to expand her apartment for their future. Come on! Red flags! Walk away. They didn’t want the same things. He wanted a family of his own and a simpler life, Carrie wanted couture, parties and drama.

I don’t want to acknowledge second movie Aidan as I’ve never gotten over that character assassination.

Now we have divorcee, father of 3 Aidan who is mega rich, dresses weirdly, looks waxy, is still traumatised by the apartment saga 20+ years later yet wants to rekindle a relationship with a woman who broke his heart once then came back and smashed it into smithereens for good measure.

We’ve witnessed no relationship development from them, no conversations about anything other than the mundane really, but the writers want the viewers to believe that this relationship is working? Feels more and more like a nostalgia money grab to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Apologies for the essay, Someone please tell me how they work? I’m not being rude or argumentative. I want to hear other opinions.

Can't argue - agree 💯. Also season 4 Aidan was sexy, wasn't he? 🥵
 
It seems like what they were going for, is a guy who wouldn’t take any tit from Carrie. A guy who’s strong in his own beliefs and standards and the like. And that’s cool, it gave opportunity for growth and compromise, but it didn’t really end up like that. It ended up with them at odds with each other (lying about smoking, you have to forgive me, etc).
i remember when he moved in, and she eventually told him she needed some quiet time when they got home rather than being talked at immediately. That’s the sort of thing that represented a proper relationship!

I wonder why theyve given carrie so many love interests in AJLT - it’s like they are throwing them all at her to see what sticks. I don’t like aiden being back, she yo-yoed between him and big for so long, we were led to believe big was ‘the one’ and now they are disrespecting both him and Carrie by suggesting she only stayed with him coz aiden gave up first.

Was that when she was supposed to meet his friends and that made her realise she didn't want a relationship? I honestly can't remember. Both him and bike guy were waaaaaay better choices than Aiden though. It's like she was presented with a menu with two exciting flavourful new dishes but she went back to the carbonara she always orders even though it always makes her feel sick and it's frankly a bit bland.

I think that's exactly what will happen. The chicken will lay an egg on her while she's in bed in her sex bra. Then she'll leg it back to the city and they'll all make jokes about which came first.

Re. the sex bra - I find it quite a cute throwback to SATC. In the first episode of this series (or maybe the second) we had a montage of the women doing the middle aged sex prep thing no one told me about, which is putting on a very long and slinky negligée and looking in the mirror in one's dressing room/bathroom. Except for Miranda - they had her clambering into a tub, naked and ungainly as a landed fish, because they decided that Miranda is now a clown.

Aidan gives me major ick - the long hair / lumberjack vibes 🤢

I love Miranda and I kinda get the whole socially enept thing- she’s in her 50s , sexually confused , getting divorced and she’s plonked with 20 somethings she knows are botching about her . Thank god the scenes with Che are finished - hot but vomit at the same time .
There is absolutely nothing relatable about Charlotte’s life as a mum of teens 🤷🏻‍♀️
Even Anthony is annoying this season .The “ power couple “ can’t think of their names - friends of Charlotte ? - anyway despite maybe one giggle when the MIL visited they’ve just been pointless filler .
Bring back Samantha 🙋🏻‍♀️

Do women or did women actually do that? The sexy negligee thing? Never understood it. Just get em off and get on with it. Should i have done sex prep? Maybe thats why im divorced…..

That's vert.true! Yet more pointless real world intervening in the series 🙄 my latest plot.twistbhope, Carrie realises bug was not a mistake for being big but as a man. She ends up with Che, two narcissists together 🤣
