The old narration style could attempt to weave the new characters into the storylines and give them a bit of purpose. They just fall flat without it. The narration was a formula that worked well for SATC and could work for AJLT to compensate for the lazy writing but that’s just it, the writers are too lazy! I’ve said it too many times to count on this thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

Seema had potential but I’m bored of her character now.

Nya had potential but now her character is pointless.

LTW is gorgeous but nothing makes me care about her character or her extended family characters.

Petition to banish Che, Lily and Rock from the show. Awful characters, terrible acting.
I actually think they could do something with Rock: explore the reality of young people being unsure of who they are and changing their minds etc as they grow into themselves. Busy Philips’ daughter declared themselves to be non binary aged 10 and asked for they / them pronouns, and now they are 14/15, Busy has only ever used she etc to refer to her daughter recently. The AJLT writers could explore something similar.

* just want to caveat this to say I don’t want to or intend to turn this into a political debate!

No I agree, they could have done something but the writing is just awful and the acting terrible. I didn’t mind Rock when series 2 commenced, but now I just don’t see the point of the character or any storyline they are part of. The modelling story was a face palm moment 🤦🏻‍♀️ yet could have been an opportunity to develop the non-binary aspect of the character.

Totally agree.

SATC was focussed on 4 individuals. Individuals we have invested in over the years. I’m not saying they can’t introduce new regular characters, for example like, Stanford and Anthony were for SATC. Ultimately though, their roles are support acts to provide depth and stories for the main four.

On the flip side, maybe the producers realised with Kristen davis’ reduced ability to act they had no option but to try and engineer storylines elsewhere.

There’s just too much going on IMO, and too many conflicting storylines.

I agree about lazy writing. Charlotte is a rich woman who lives a privileged and somewhat sheltered life. When Rock announced that they were non-binary Charlotte said ok and that was that. It could have been a significant opportunity for the family to explore what that means. At the very least Charlotte could have had a conversation with her close friend Miranda's new partner to learn more about what lies ahead for Rock.

Out of a population of 340mil in the US, 1.2mil of adults identify as non-binary - and this show has two - so not representative! I don't have a problem with that but why do they not interact with each other? A teenager needing guidance can look up to an older non-binary person for support - especially when that adult is the partner of her mum's best friend - someone Rock has known her whole life.

I was just writing something along these lines but you beat me to it! It could have been an opportunity to show a more sympathetic side to Che as well

Ultimately Charlotte and Harry's storyline is how you should raise children if you want them to be selfish brats. Remember last season when lily insisted Charlotte help her learn how to use a tampon just as the dinner guests arrived? They just never say no to anything

Okay I just caught up on last weeks episode and felt inclined to make this

Episode 7 with no context:

Did Alex expect her to do duck all though? It was only a bleeping week until the exhibition launched then he was all hers? Why the duck she stood those people up was on her tbh.
And don’t get me started on how she moaned to Miranda that she’d been to ‘every museum and gallery like twice’.
Chnny.
She was in Paris for fucks sake, and was bored after a week?? I'd love to have that much free time, and cash to spend too, and yeah it would get old eventually but after a week? She was homesick and missing New York, but blamed Aleks for the way she was feeling. Not that I liked him, he was a twit but more fool her for running to Paris with him, what did she expect? Chump

He practically begged her to go to the exhibition and miss her party though

It's just typical of what she does for men though, left a good job, city she loved, all her friends to hang around and do nothing. Didn't even register to do a language course or something to meet people

She was only there a week!! She never had a chance to do any of those things or to make friends. She never gave it a chance. She was so used to everything being about her and her friends falling over themselves to please her - she couldn't cope for one week without that.
---
I guess she realised that she is not as cosmopolitan or adventurous as she thought she was. She only operates within a small area of New York where she is comfortable and is known.
---
She was the same when she went to LA - looked down on everything.
