Totally agree, but the plot is a separate issue from some actors seemingly needing to represent their own reality on tv instead of playing characters now.

My police officer friends cringe at police dramas as they say they are nothing like real life, they don’t all go insisting that cops play themselves on tv. It speaks volumes as to the size of their egos that so much of their own personal lives (Sara R and Cynthia) are being enmeshed in this mish mash.

It’s supposed to be entertainment not a serious commentary on life. They are taking themselves waaaaaaaay too seriously.

I don’t know Sara R obviously so I can’t say whether their personality is similar to Che’s. But it is interesting that they came out as non-binary and then joined AJLT playing a non-binary character without any significant changes to their appearance.

Cynthia is a gay/bi woman who left her husband & is now married to a woman.

So should Carrie have three kids & talk about surrogacy, and Charlotte be single and talk about single-parent adoption.

It comes across as if Cynthia Nixon has a huge influence and the show isn’t the better for it.

It’s many years after the original show so it’s reasonable that the views of the characters will have evolved. But this is a mish-mash.

It’s only of relevance if the characters are ‘queer’. So Carrie and Charlotte’s real lives can stay in their real lives. Who wants to hear about straight people? Yawn. We need rainbows and pronouns dammit.

I’m not young so I do find myself sometimes looking wildly for multiple people when I hear “they”. For the older generations much like generations before it’s an adjustment. So I don’t think it’s unfair of AJLT to include that like when Charlotte & Harry go to a school meeting about Rock. What I thought was difficult about that meeting was about how non-subtle it was, and how the parent’s concerns about a 12 year old seemed overridden by a younger teacher who wanted to remind them to use the correct terminology as regards their own child without giving them a lot of space to process it or discuss concerns.

Yep. Stupid. It was just about whimsical her wearing heels to stupid places in SATC, but this woman is in her fifties recovering from hip surgery.
AJLT episode 9 summarised: "whimsically painting a women's refuge in totally impractical heels after hip surgery (along with a too big ring - no pun intended ) while talking to the husband of my friend who has (apparently) left him (and also the son) for a non binary 'comedian' she met a few months ago while outside my other friend (there are only 2 original friends now, let's not mention it) gets her period all over her (bizarre) white all in one painter's outfit"

I don't know if anyone saw that Cynthia Nixon appeared on Drew Barrymore's show to talk about AJLT and Cynthia mentioned how she'd specifically chosen Sara Ramirez for the role of Che (weird but okay) and Drew Barrymore was saying how great the show was and how Che is such an uplifting, great character (why is she lying though?)
And I just thought, wow, they (the cast and crew) really do think that this show is revolutionary and groundbreaking - delirious!

So disappointed in Kelly! Wtf hen 😂😂

Carrie wearing those huge silver heels to paint at a community project has incensed me. I know she’s silly for heels but FFS.

I'm rewatching SATC and she was never that silly, in fact there's an early ep where she's painting her apartment and she's dressed like a normal person would be! Can't remember exactly what but pretty sure it was sweats/old overalls and barefoot, but she still totally rocked it. In AJLT she just looks so stupid.

Black cycling shorts and a purple tshirt with David Bowie on the front
