Secret Celebrity Gossip #182

Agree. I could not care less and also I wondered why it was the top story.
It’s the top story because it just shows how easily we fall for social engineering. The subpoenaed text messages are really revealing. And if it can happen to Blake Lively, who is married to a billionaire and part of a Hollywood power couple, think how easily an actress without that level of power can have her career destroyed for speaking up about sexual harassment. It’s actually a fairly big deal because it shows that our negative opinions about certain celebrities can just be manufactured.

I agree. Different scenarios of course but it reminds me of the Amber Heard case. I dislike Blake because I just do and because of that clip of her having a go at the interviewer that was circulating but looks like she’s been treated very badly here. Victims can be arseholes too. I suspect Blake will come out of this much better than Amber Heard though as she has a husband with a lot of clout and people listen to men much more than women.

It’s seems to me that there’s been an odd smear campaign against Blake Lively recently too. What’s she actually done wrong, apart from be a bit of a witch to a reporter over a decade ago, and more recently try and flog a few hair (badly timed and thoughtless for sure) products? I know people are upset as the subject matter was a book that dealt with an abusive relationship but the book itself is, well fluff honestly. It’s barely a step up from 50 shades of grey so not exactly hard hitting gritty stuff.
They aren’t my favourite couple by a long chalk, but Ryan’s certainly done more for Wrexham than any government has this century. And maybe Ryan was poking his nose in and accompanying his wife about in the workplace because she asked him too, as she was being made to feel uncomfortable.
Arseholes towards women tend to back off when their partners are about.

There was another actor I'm sure that said he wasn't what they expected in real life. He wasn't funny and was quite serious. Can't remember who now

I've heard many tales of actors/comedians/"personalities" being way more subdued and quite different when people encounter them in RL and I can understand that, I think there's always been a thing where people in any sort of entertainment industry have a stage/camera persona and then their real one, and also nobody can be "on" all the time.

For me with RR there's just an off-putting undertone that adds to an overall unappealing vibe about him. I agree with people who've said he seems controlling, maybe that's what it is.

Funnily enough it’s the same PR team that Jonny Depp used. The clip of her being rude to that reporter was specifically dug up. Yes she was rude but I’d put money on every single actor and actress being rude to a reporter at some point in time. Everyone has an off day and people sometimes have history with certain reporters where we don’t know the full backstory. The reporter in question releasing it and saying it almost made her quit was 100% engineered.

I’m actually so annoyed with myself that I saw a situation where the entire cast and the book’s author turned against one man and thought “Blake Lively must be the problem here”.

I don't like Blake or Ryan, they ooze smugness and there's something about RR that gives me red flags (no basis or evidence for this, purely gut instinct of an actor/stranger on TV!)

But reading the legal document I believe her and it seems the scenes Justin added were for a one-upmanship, for power and purposefully discomfort her. Nasty behaviour.

Blake and Ryan are a bit annoying but the hatred for her was way over the top, despite her apparently being a bit bitchy and arrogant. I've criticised her myself but people were acting like she'd killed someone.

But the internet loves to attack people, it only needs a little push. Wind them up and watch them go. The general cruelty and self-righteousness of certain online/social media spaces has been an absolute gift to shady lawyers and PR firms.

Reddit are all hand wringing about how guilty they feel about "buying into it" but as soon as the next blind item comes along about someone they don't like they'll be straight back on the hate train and down voting anyone who questions it.

Absolutely fair enough

Just for the record, I’ve never liked her. It’s not just because of *that* interview although it cemented my dislike I must admit. There’s lots of reason why she’s pissed people off before now, a main one being her and Reynolds got married on a plantation which a lot of people found more than distasteful given the history of them. The other reasons have probably been listed on previous threads.

However as someone pointed out earlier, that doesn’t mean that Justin Baldoni isn’t also a creep. Both things can true at once. I also don’t think the overwhelmingly negative opinion of her has been manufactured by Baldoni nor is it solely down to the press tour for that movie. Most of it is down to her own behaviour but again, that’s completely separate to the allegations against him.

The new Caroline Flack documentary will be interesting with her mother involved.

It's super weird how close Louise Teasdale is to Lottie Tomlinson.
Did you watch the first documentary, her mother was involved with that too. It's a while since I've seen it but I took from it that Caroline seemed to have major problems with rejection and very low mood when relationships broke down/ suicide attempts, this went back years, unfortunately seemed inevitable that her life would end in suicide. Also the situation in the house must have been awful for the police to try and overrule the CPS.

I remember reading an interview with Scarlett Johanssson just after their divorce got finalised. She alluded he was controlling and didn’t like her being a big star and getting better movie roles etc. Have always been wary of him since that.

This doesn’t apply to Ryan Thomas who was in the supermarket this morning in his sunglasses, loudly inviting someone over to see ‘me and Luce’ on Christmas Eve on the phone. The invite was rejected and Boxing Day was offered instead. He could not have tried to stand out more
