I think if he was making sexual jokes and inappropriate comments, he should have been told (at some point in the last 13 years) to stop it and they should have quietly started to drop him.

i think being *suspended* for this is too much and too late. It’s easy to forget how different things were in 2011.

And I don’t like Gregg at all.
It could be that someone complained to person 1. Then another complained to person 2, etc.
Each one said they would have a word with Gregggg, and did, but the people who received the complaints didn’t get together and nothing was recorded.

I speak from experience..

There's banter and there's this. What on earth made him think this was acceptable behaviour in the workplace? Can you imagine any other job where that would be allowed to slide?
It reminds me of the anecdotes about John Barrowman getting his dick out in the workplace and thinking it was hilarious, and women shouldn't feel threatened because he's gay

ETA crossposted with @HotesTilaire ;)

I know where you're coming from and I do feel a bit sorry for people who made inappropriate comments a decade or more ago, when sexual banter was often common in certain industries. I'm not saying that excuses bad behaviour and sexual assault however.

If it was just one or two slightly off colour remarks years ago, I doubt that much would have been said, but it sounds like persistent behaviour over a period of years so it's only right it's (finally) catching up to him.

Incidentally, my late Dad always hated both him and Russell Brand, shame he's not around to see them both get their comeuppance.

Gregggg Wallace is truly repulsive. He was so lucky to ever get the Master Chef gig, it’s not like there’s a lack of actual chefs around. They should have binned him off long ago, it seems like everyone knew what he was like. I‘ve never forgotten when he was on Strictly years ago and boasted about going commando. He made his dance partner noticeably uncomfortable.
Also, big thumbs up to Rod for calling him out. Let the floodgates open!

Well I wouldn’t say it was just banter..
🤮🤮
Wallace, 60, is also accused mimicking a sex act in front of a member of the show's production staff who was kneeling down to clean his trousers during filming, according to the lurid and so-far unsubstantiated allegations.

Wasn‘t he removed from the factory programme because of his knobhead behaviour to staff? Perhaps they have been looking for reasons to kick him off Masterchef.

Back in 2011 I was working with a senior manager who made horrible comments to young women and behaved totally inappropriately. No one on the receiving end would have bothered complaining as it would have made them look like women who couldn’t cope in the workplace or, even worse, humourless. Scary to think how recent that is.

If he hadn’t retired since, I would happily see him suspended now for his behaviour back then. The harm is still done.

Yes! He has quite a history of inappropriate behaviour, you have to wonder why he’s been allowed to continue with it for so long.
He said he left the factory show to “spend more time with his son”, but no one believed that. There were reports in the press at the time that he was demeaning to female factory workers.

this is the trouble isn't it - do it to someone like me and I would tear to shreds. Behave like this in front of 18 year old apprentices I work with - they would be scared and upset and not know how to react or report.
