In abusive situations, everyone is groomed but only a few individuals are targeted for abuse.

This is very true, the grooming and charm will happen with everyone but they will only one target the ones who they feel are an appropriate target.

Back in the 80’s when I was about 10 I was groomed by the lead youth worker at my local youth group. On paper I was the perfect victim, in and out of care and with an abusive neglectful parent who didn’t give a tit what happened to me. He was lovely to me and I loved having a popular adult giving me attention and showing me kindness. I adored him and felt so special knowing that he showed more interest in me than others. Then he made his move and I didn’t react in the way he expected. When he had me alone and hugged me for what felt like forever sniffing my hair I froze. I felt uncomfortable with the physical contact and knew what would be next from previous experiences. I then knew that his interest in me was wrong and he knew I wasn’t going to be the easy victim he expected. From that day he barely looked in my direction and I actually felt sad and like I had done something wrong, especially when I saw him start to give more attention to another girl from an abusive home. When she started telling people they were in love and I saw the rest of the staff protecting him and being mad with her I knew it was true but I didn’t say anything because I knew nobody would believe me and a part of me still felt like I had done something wrong.

These men know exactly what they are doing and get away with it time and time again.

I know someone who worked there - fitted the blonde and beautiful mould, thought the sexual health checks were a bit odd (although it was presented as 'this is how much he cares for his staff'), but was told that Al Fayed was a perv and was warned to stay under the radar when he came round the store as it could mean she'd be moved to his personal team (which also meant abruptly "leaving" the organisation after a while...). The woman I knew was sacked for a fatuous reason after she got married (coincidence? Clearly not).

In abusive situations, everyone is groomed but only a few individuals are targeted for abuse.

Don’t get me wrong, I 100% believe and back the woman who were harassed and exploited. I just mentioned my former work colleague in passing as liking him. Even if she had hated him, I hardly knew her and she wouldn’t be going into it at her new job.

The topic only came up after Di and Dodi died.

I always get Al Fayed and Philip Green mixed up, but two cheeks of the same arse, I reckon.

That's news to me. Some quotes from an ex of Prince's (Susannah Melvoin) in a recent article about a Netflix documentary on Prince that's been held up suggest that Prince was far from a wild freak sexually, describing him as "very controlled, very shut down", so I can't see him holding such dodgy parties.
I can't find anything and I'm now wondering if the blind item I read was actually about Diddy, but I'd mistakenly linked it to Prince for some reason.

It is tragic that people cannot speak up whilst the abuser is alive.

As with Saville this seems all too late. Let them get away with this heinous behaviour all their lives, then it all comes ravelling out after their death. Al Fayed didn't care what he inflicted on women, probably expected it to be uncovered after he died, did he care, not at all.

Imagine how invincible they felt. They knew they were too powerful to ever be brought to justice. No woman would have been believed. The same old adage - “she’s lying, she just wants money”. Bastards.

I sat next to someone at work in the 90s who had previously worked for Al Fayed at Harrods. She was blonde and beautiful but didn’t say anything bad about him. I got the impression she quite admired him.

But, yeah, I believe the stories coming out now.
I have already said this on the Harry and Meghan thread. One of my sons worked at Harrods as a Saturday sales assistant when he was a student in London. I remember him telling me that Mohamed Al Fahid was very handsy with the female staff. Everyone who worked there knew.

I feel a bit conflicted about Barrowman. His behavior on set was treated as a joke at the time by almost everyone, and then years later it was suddenly seen as unacceptable, often by the same people who laughed along with it at the time.

My main issue is that it should have been dealt with by the time, and is wasn't and those people have had literally zero consequences. If the general public knew about it at the time, it is absurd to think that people like Russel T Davis and the other producers didn't. At the end of the day, they are responsible for running the show. They should not have let people feel uncomfortable on set.

RTD has had work since he left DW, and was invited back with open arms. Moffat has had loads of work, so have the other less public facing staff. Why are they not facing consequences for letting him behave unchecked?
I’m no fan of Dr Who, RTD or Barrowman but I think RTD is a bit dodgy and has a strange circle of attractive gay men he likes to hang around with.

Barrowman was part of his clique in Wales at the time and I think he brought him into the show as a duck you to Christopher Ecclestone.

RTD is often salivating on the profiles of gay guys in their 20s in Manchester, and he was fairly close with a big drug dealer who died a few years ago.

I don’t think he’s a perv as such but I think he’s a bit of a sad man who is besotted with fit younger men.

The big rich star is Will Smith I’m guessing? i Wonder who the female pop star in a 3 some is? It doesn’t say she’s married…..Rhianna? Janet Jackson?

If these people weren't involved in any criminal activity then the tapes should be kept confidential. They're victims themselves in that scenario.

That's if the tapes even really exist to any great extent.

What is the Mail hinting at with Zoe Ball?

I read the story and I think they’re hinting that she’s taking the piss, taking compassionate leave after the death of her mum, but having the temerity to be out socialising.

Note all the comments about her salary being funded by licence fee payers, she has no right to be off work, regular people are allowed a few days if they’re lucky… 🙄

I'm not feeling any sympathy for her, I just find the situation very sad. Her body has been mutilated.
It's only going to end one way which I agree is sad. The ethics/morality of surgeons and 'beauty therapists' that carry out these extreme procedures for money are warped. Someone with already grossly distorted features asking for more procedures should be turned away, instead they end up going abroad and to unregulated places here. People like Price thrive on notoriety so she continues to get more extreme looks to get attention.

It depends if it involves trafficked sex workers though, I’d argue they are the victims rather than a celeb who is taking advantage of their situation.
Obviously if their not and it’s all consented then that’s fine.

*Disclaimer: But this is also a gossip website so if it comes out to be consensual, then I will probably speculate.
