The state of him ‘dancing’ by the pool. He’s such a creep. I think from what I’ve seen of his stuff, he’s there with a another bloke isn’t he? I don’t know what he does for a living other than be a disgusting sex pest

I agree with this 100%.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but who is the online coach you're with and do you recommend them? I'm just desperate for some guidance in my own recovery from a serious injury (I'll likely be out for six months to a year) because I'm so lost, depressed and anxious without running. I've never had anything like this before and I feel like I'm flailing around like an idiot and getting everything wrong. There are so many frauds and moronic so-called coaches out there, so I'm too scared to reach out and commit to anyone. Thanks.
Do you not have anyone who you could see in person rather than online? Any reputable coach would probably want to at least meet up with you in person once to see you run - even if the relationship after that is does mainly by email/ phone / whatsapp or whatever. I guess what I'm trying to say is there are lots of coaches who work mostly remotely with their clients (including lots of elite ones!) but aren't "online coaches". Do you have a running club? Or even if you aren't in one, one near you?

I think this is sensible. The only online coach I've considered (they're "only" have about 2000 insta followers so don't think I can name on here?) also leads in person running sessions, I think if you do opt for online coaching with them and aren't local they want videos of your running to look at form. I can't afford a coach though and am not actually training for anything specific now so I didn't end up bothering.

Have you seen a running physio?

If your physio specialises in running, they could put you on a treadmill, see if there is anything going on and then give you a plan to go back to it slowly.

I was videoed when I could walk (and then run) by mine (who runs) after my Achilles fiasco. My trainers were changed, he gave me a weekly and then monthly running plan based on slowly building up. It took months- well years- to be honest but you need someone who knows the body, knows you and knows running and how much you (and runners) need it).

I think we worked out from his Facebook profile that he works for Virgin Atlantic in some way.

Thanks a million for all the advice and support. I will try to see if there's a good coach and/or physio I can see locally. I think I've just been conditioned to seek out people online first, although cost is also an issue with this and I was assuming an online option might be more affordable.

I won't even be walking for a while yet and I really wanted guidance from the ground up to prevent this from ever happening again. I'm someone who really needs structure and to feel like I'm at least doing something proactive. It's the powerlessness of this whole situation that's getting to me, and at least having a plan might give me back a sense of control.

I saw a local physio after injury last year, it was £40 a session but obviously that was face to face, guidance on the exercises I needed to do to prevent it happening again and then a guide on how to gradually return to running plus some massage included every session around where the problem was. Being injured is just rubbish, I hope you can get back to running eventually.

Agree about seeing a local physio, particularly one who runs, they can help you before you even start running and hopefully help prevent and future injuries. I am lucky that one of our run leaders is an NHS physio and is happy to give out basic free advice, plus my local NHS physio is a runner so he has been great.
