I find WR and Kellogg's relationship quite toxic.
It's one thing having a personal coach set you unrealistic goals and expectations, lie about your achievements and be your cheering squad when the internet calls them out on it. But to do all that within an intimate relationship is domestic abuse.
I for one would not like to be within that toxic relationship, where every exercise is poured over for stats by your loved one and pulled apart. duck that anxiety. What a distorted view of exercise must she have?
Imagine if the relationship ended - all that IG admin to delete previous posts (PMG and Dan for eg)
A relationship born through social media, lived through social media - do they ever last?
 
I have to say I have an issue with either sub 4 or a BQ being some amazing athletic achievement. I expect I'll get slammed for this but BQ/ London Good for Age for women really ISNT that hard for anyone who puts the work in, doesn't have any particular health issues, isn't significantly overweight etc (not bodyshaming, it's just physics). Then again I've run a sub 3 so maybe I'm just a superior twit 😁😁😁

I'm inclined to agree. With a bit of structure, discipline, consistency: the right (progressive) mix of runs (easy runs, intervals, hills), a bit of strength training, and importantly rest days then a sub 4 marathon isn't a huge ask. It's easy to see where certain runfluencers fall down:

Lack patience to focus exclusively on one target race and gradually build up base mileage that conditions the legs/feet/joints to handle higher mileage and protects against injury further down the line. Mileage builds up too quickly. Easy runs are too fast. Insufficient recovery. Inappropriate race efforts/too many races. Not enough recovery. Ultimately lets social media and the need for content and engagement control their running.
 
Why does runnerbeans* have to do the same photo for everything? Ridiculous over stride flying feet? Come on love, you don’t run like that.

Same as that alexm_16. Same rehashed and rubbish photos time and again. I mean the photo that Alex has posted today is just odd and looks like a photo taken by mistake. Interesting she talking about her niggly injuries today and it’s been clear she’s overtrained start times this year…

She then goes on to state she’s run more miles this year than any other year and that’s with 12 weeks of little and no running 🙄 You don’t need to be a coach or even a runner to figure out why she is having these struggles. Her coach is an idiot. She is an idiot. One role of a coach is to stop you overtraining. Talking of her coach, have you seen the latest post my Gary House? Look who he is correcting 👀

Also has anyone else noticed PMG has changed the profile pic on her coaching account to one of herself? It used to be her logo.

It definitely sounds like from Alex’s post that Bester was pushing her to run high mileage. News flash, that’s not the only way to get faster! And for the vast majority of people, it’s not sustainable and they will get injured. It’s amazing to me that if she’s been injured for as long as she says she’s been, why didn’t he take a step back as her coach and correct course? Oh right, because as Gary’s post suggests, Bester knows jack tit
 
So so so many Instagram coaches go for quantity > quality. I’ve been a victim of this (see my post back in thread #1). Got ignored for questioning such a ramp up on mileage the week after joining, they clearly didn’t listen or look at my training pre-joining despite a call to discuss.

I can’t find PMG on IG anymore. Where did you see this (me being 👀)- is she on Twitter?

PMG Coaching account is what is being discussed, she’s still off IG. She’s on Twitter too, same name as her IG was 😉

Exactly, is he even PT qualified to be giving out this (tit) advice? The guy is one of the biggest clowns and if PMG hadn’t have had Gracie and been off work on maternity then he’d have a small fraction of his runners, they all went to him from what I’ve heard and not sure if there was an agreement that some would be temporary or not so that would be interesting to know! I remember Alex used to do social media for PMG Coaching according to my friend who was on her books, always having her beak in something to get in with the in crowd

Yeah it was something a few of us noticed, he took over loads of clients and think she recommended it too as they’re friends, well I think they still are 👀
He did that to me loads too! Follow like/comment on a photo and leave again with an unfollow and repeat! Same with the novicetoelite moron, he was awful for this but as you might’ve seen from his story a couple of weeks back, he got the right arse about it. Anyone know if he’s put his toys back in his pram yet? 🤔

My husband is an ultra runner and can squat and deadlift more than the bodybuilders he works with, they're always surprised someone without huge muscles can lift heavy 😂
 
Does anyone follow trackclubbabe? I don’t know what to think, always pushes rest days taking weeks off after races etc but then is also flogging her training plans all the time!

I used to. But then got bored by all the “change your form” posts.

I love daniellehartruns for a good laugh. Flexed in every photo. Over striding. Instarunner 101.

(think Charlie might be a bit sore… yes we know you over stride, yes we know every pic has your mileage, yes we know you don’t forefoot run so why do you do it IN EVERY POST? Stop over sharing).
