What I don’t understand is why is Kelloggs running this marathon? Is it because she crashed and burned the last 2? I don’t understand running a 10k race 2 weeks out from a marathon? Unless she is just going out to run it for fun. It really makes no sense.

I follow quite a few IG runners from America and a lot of them run multiple marathons after each other without having solid marathon training blocks for everyone - the difference being they are already running sub 3.30 marathon times so I guess the fitness and speed is there already. Kellogg must have the fitness she only ran Berlin and London marathon 8 weeks ago and she hasn’t stopped running since, no she hasn’t trained specifically for a marathon but she will get around, never sub 4 but she should finish.
I can’t get my head around any Coach backing a 10km balls out race two weeks before a marathon where she’s trying to sub 4. If you look at the data and she ran 57.5% of this race in V02 max. It is brilliant progress, it is a fantastic PB and not to be sniffed at, but it doesn’t make any kind of sense as part of a marathon cycle. Also not something you would ever see TGCRF doing. She‘s obvs got a proper Coach 🤣

The other day she had 17.5k followers but now that’s dropped by 200 I think when I looked, the sign of fake followers for sure! She won’t lose that many in a week or two I’m sure if that
She probably blocked 200 users for commenting something she didn't like.

Yeah I follow him, he’s a pretty sound bloke. He’s ex SFSG and I think he’s got a pretty high level of fitness. I don’t think he’s trying to set an example to anyone in all fairness, he’s just sharing his running journey on IG and has unfortunately picked up an injury. He doesn’t seem like the influencer belters that get discussed on here who train way above their capabilities.
True, I just feel like sometimes he tries to give advice in his stories about how you should train but maybe it’s just because I’m comparing. Definitely not similar to the ‘pick me’ freebie hunters on here though you’re right!

She’s definitely making good progress, but not sure I’d want to running this kind of race that close to a marathon. I mean that said, I lined up for London having just recovered from covid and also knowing fracture clinic Friday was in my immediate future. I may not be the best person to go to for advice. 🤣

Balls out was the phrase I was trying to look for but ‘tits out’ kept appearing in my head so I gave up trying to remember the phrase 😂

It would be much better for her to draw a line now.

The recent pbs are fab. Just sit back and be happy with those. They have come off the back of a period of really solid training. Now is not the time to push again for a marathon pb.

Take a few weeks to rest properly. Run easy without any sessions. Cycle. Enjoy Christmas and then push on for a Spring marathon pb.

(But when the pbs are coming and you feel like you are flying it makes you think you can achieve anything. But as others have said the marathon is a different beast. The half and 10k speed will not be there when you are alone, depleted and in agony at 19.5 miles).

Kelly will run 4:30/-4:40 after going out too fast and celebrate a pb and say it's all down to her amazing coach and she's one step closer to a BQ 🙄
I'd put money on it!
If this upcoming marathon was local, she’d not bother doing it. She’d say the training wasn’t right yet. The fact that it’s Valencia and another trip away from the kids is what’s exciting her more

This! Exactly this, and then she will say the whole year has been a PB. The marathon PB is well deserved too, but it’s not exactly the Boston qualifying she has been banging on about all year

I wish the obsession with the BQ would chill out a bit. It’s as if these running influencers think that aiming for it is the only thing that makes them interesting / or that they have to in order to fit in with the community. It was like when runnerbeans kept going on about aiming for a BQ when she was run/walking 3 miles a few times a week. Luckily she eventually seemed to clue onto the fact that she wasn’t putting the work in and that it wasn’t realistic for where she was in the moment. I personally feel like being realistic is more relatable, and there are so many other goals out there than a BQ. You are not less than if you don’t have one, or if it’s not your goal

I’ve probably ranted about this before but BQ does my head in. As do all the abbots majors. The entry fee alone, london aside, is around £200. If you look at the travel packages available, total cost of trip minus meals etc is around £3000. It’s ridiculous and exclusive to the rich or those who get gifted everything. I didn’t enter because it feels so wrong to spend so much money to run around a city that I mostly won’t see because I’d only be there a few days and needing to rest beforehand, never mind the jet lag. Just because you get a BQ time, it doesn’t make you a super special runner! There are likely others like me who run for their own enjoyment and achievement and don’t need to tell the world how fast we are! Smaller races are also a lot more friendly and fun!

WR is making me write posts again that I have to delete.

Does he do this to anyone else or am I the only one that gets wound up like a tiny v small spring by his pompous posts?
This……
Saying she negative split the run…. Well she did for a couple of miles not the whole 10k what he makes out.. it’s all on her Strava so people can see. Telling BS again 🤦🏻‍♀️

I feel for Kelly in a way. He is obsessed with getting quicker. I guess when you are with someone like that there is possibly an expectation you will too if that makes any sense
I really enjoyed her stuff before. Now I have unfollowed. .I hope she gets her Boston qualifier as I know how much it means to her
But as a fellow runner I feel she needs to set it as a goal for a couple of years and gradually build on what she has. Her youngest isnt quite 2 yet and she had a c section (possibly her 4th). She may feel recovered but internally it takes a while.
She's ambitious and that is absolutely fine, her reason for wanting it is so precious to her but from where she started (which I feel is good running) it's a big ask so soon

Having done them all I kind of agree with this, though it's perfectly possible to do some of them a lot cheaper than that. I've never done a 'travel package" unless you just mean "all the stuff added together" and I'm definitely not rich (alas!). American ones do cost a lot more to enter but if you are lucky with flights, get Air BnBs etc, it's not that much. Berlin particularly, if you are in the UK anyway.

I have to say I have an issue with either sub 4 or a BQ being some amazing athletic achievement. I expect I'll get slammed for this but BQ/ London Good for Age for women really ISNT that hard for anyone who puts the work in, doesn't have any particular health issues, isn't significantly overweight etc (not bodyshaming, it's just physics). Then again I've run a sub 3 so maybe I'm just a superior twit 😁😁😁
