The Kate cheating thing is wild to me - I wonder if any other runners saw her leave the course (prob not that suspicious tbh) or, surely more suspiciously, rejoin?

That being said, once I was running a parkrun course that had a 2km steep uphill out-and-back section. About halfway (500m) into the uphill portion, there were three guys running ahead of me chatting, when two of them said bye to their friend and turned around, cutting about 1km of the course. Their friend said something like “I’m gonna do the whole thing”.

Obviously the two men who cut the course were then way ahead of me, but after the out-and-back I saw them way ahead again and they went through the finish line and waited for their mate who ran the whole course! Neither of them seemed to care that they just brazenly cut out the big hill section, and nobody else (myself included) said anything. I guess it’s just parkrun but I thought it was very bad form. One time I accidentally cut a corner at parkrun and I felt awful haha

I saw an old man ahead of me totally cut out an out and back section of the Great Scottish Run. Another time I was marshalling at a triathlon and one of the swimmers in my lane said he'd done 10 laps (or however many it was) and he hadn't. There are obviously people who don't care about cheating, but for someone who has made a career based around running it is pretty crazy to think she would get away with it.

Not running influencers as such but 'Leedscityendurance' account is having a bit of a series where a lot of its high level runners are sharing day in the life style videos showing how they fit in training around full time jobs and other commitments.

Such a contrast to some of these running influencers, so far there has been Sarah Potter (Sister of Olympian and World Champion Triathlete Beth Potter) who works full time as A&E doctor while juggling training (she recently ran 72 half), then today's is Heather Townsends a former elite triathlete who has marathon pb of 2.37, is training for another marathon while working full time and has two 5 year old twin boys who seem a handful!

I really like Sarah Potter. Ditto Beth, I get the impression it’s an absolutely lovely family, I bet their parents are (rightly) so proud.
Totally agree, I follow Beth and she seems so lovely. I’m not a triathlete (at all) but I much prefer following the pro triathletes, idk why they seem to have a much healthier approach to training in general unlike some of these extremely disordered sub elite runners on the scene atm

I think that if people see, oftentimes they assume innocence or don’t “notice” per se, assuming someone has just gone to use the loo or tie a shoelace. If you were rejoining and squatted down for a bit, fiddling with your laces, approaching runners probably wouldn’t think much of it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone do it but toward the ends of races, I’m so deep in the pain tunnel, I’m barely aware of my own name 😂

I know this is petty but I really wish Anna would stop giving her two year old cups of tea. Why would u give a baby caffeine? Give them milk!? Gotta make sure the kid has an addictive personality too I guess or maybe it’s just so they can keep Him quiet while dad is on the PlayStation and mum is on her phone
Wtf 😂 this is insane. Also how have they trained him to sit still with a hot/warm drink on the sofa?! My 2 year old sits still for approx 1.5 seconds and that tea would be everywhere

I used to drink coffee at his age 🤦‍♀️😳 my parents will admit that that wasn’t their finest parenting moment 😅 I used to just drink my mums when she left it. Took them ages to figure out it was me who was drinking it - she thought she was going mental and had just drunk more than she thought every time. Dad eventually put a stop to it when I was 4. I still drank tea though. 🤷‍♀️ although it was more milk than tea I think. Not really sure. I’m now 27 and haven’t drank coffee since!

I like bethanvarn. She might be a Brooks happy clapper but she seems to follow sensible training plans, has achievable running goals that she demonstrates training towards and does little insights into her runs/programs - and shares when they don’t go well etc.
I also like Bethan, she's very down to earth.

My 4 year old is exactly the same.
I must admit I've never understood why people give their kids tea. I know some people who put it in their kids' bottles, just blows my mind!

Tbh my toddler loves ‘tea’ - aka reusing my decaf tea bag with a tiny bit of hot water and topping it up so it’s mostly just milk (in a toddler beaker). I think she just likes to join in with the grown ups. Wouldn’t give her proper tea though!

Holy tit. Carter fesses up in the Telegraph, but claims "I'm not a cheat".

It's the dictionary definition of cheating. There are few other ways TO cheat at running, besides doping and bib-muling. She cut the course, and doctored the results of both the Landmarks Half and the full London Marathon. Screensots, as paywall.

She also doesn't explain the "borrowed" GPX file or the folded-up bib. I don't buy any of this, and I see others on other social media sites aren't buying it either.

We're just meant to take it on faith that she ran the whole London Marathon course, in the times she claims, after she admits to course-cutting 3 weeks earlier, and was running slower in the first 10k of that Half than she apparently did for the entirety of the full? Yeah nah.

Wow, thanks for the screenshots - so she took a few days to come up with that. She wet herself and “possibly” rejoined at the wrong point. As someone who has shat themselves on many an occasion, I get the need to stop and adjust. Still doesn’t explain why she has a working watch in her photos. And you don’t forget where you stepped off the course - particularly if you are the editor of a running publication and presumably know the route.
What a liar. Cancel her.

And what bit of wetting yourself requires unpinning, folding up, and repinning your bib?

Just nonsense. Plus if you find yourself off course and lost, and you haven't run the full race, don't cross the finish line.

I've also weed in races before. Loads of us have, it's an occupational hazard in really long runs. I've yet to meet anyone who cares. Hell, triathletes are borderline proud of this ability.
