How come he only got 17 years? That's an extremely light sentence. Please God let the parole board see sense.

17 years was his minimum sentence. From what I heard on the grapevine his barrister argued that the murder was carried out under the influence of marijuana, and that other than his penchant for rape murder he was a committed family man. (He fucked off down south almost the day after killing Sara and as far as I know hasn’t seen his family since, but details 🙄). I don’t blame his barrister, that is his job, I do blame the judge for being a complete fuckwit.

“Sense“ and the parole board haven’t been on speaking terms for years I’m afraid. It’s like Harry Potter magic, say the right words in the right combination and even the most unrepentant rape murderer becomes a fine upstanding citizen and a triumph of rehabilitation. Because as we all know, he can commit murder but he would never ever lie right?

Parole boards don’t solely rely on the testimony / evidence from the prisoner. A combination of professionals have to come together to issue reports and evidence as to whether they think the person can be safely managed in the community. With a thorough plan for that management. The parole boards give them an absolute grilling and often adjourn for further information to be provided. Although the programme parole did give some insight, they used best cases and parole boards often aren’t as friendly and relaxed as what was presented.

All that. And yet.

Swift recall to custody upon any concerning behaviour is often part of a robust risk management plan.

Or another way to look at it, the professionals who carried out the robust plan missed something very very important which allowed him to display “concerning behaviour” towards the public in the first place. That very very important thing being of course that he is a complete psychopath.

I bleeping love neutral language as well!! The ”concerning behaviour” Pitchfork was displaying was he was approaching teenage girls, having previously raped and murdered two others and gone to extreme lengths to cover his tracks.

”Concerning behaviour”. Hmmm. Might I suggest that a person currently in the path of a tsunami is about to experience a rise in moisture?

I always say that, if those on the parole board truly believe that the offender is 100% rehabilitated, let them spend a night or two in their home with their family. If they are so confident that the prisoner is safe to be released to the public then surely they’re safe to spend some time alone with their family then? I bet those on the parole board would have a very different opinion of what is considered “safe” if they had to do that! 🤬

It always confuses me when people get their sentences reduced for ‘good behaviour’. They’ve already committed the ‘bad behaviour’ that’s why they’re in bleeping prison in the first place. Making exceptional progress won’t bring their victim back. It’s stupid.

I have worked in a prison for 15 years and I have never heard of someone getting their sentence reduced for good behaviour.

When I see the little clip of her speaking about the new documentary, she still has a baby voice.😖

I’m keeping an open mind on the voice because it’s possibly due to all the unnecessary treatment she had, I know she lost most (all?) of her teeth due to it and there was talk about damage to her vocal cords. It will be interesting to see as she’s on SM and the documentary comes out and no doubt she’s interviewed in various places if it’s something she drops or if it’s constant.

Thanks for the info.

How was this guy ever released? EVER? what do you have to do to be jailed for life? I firmly believe paedophiles and rapists, and those who murder for sexual gratification, are beyond rehabilitation. They have no desire to change. I don't believe in the death penalty (though Lord knows that's been tested!) but I don't think these men should ever be released. Ever.

It's all very well saying they're recalled to jail due to concerning behaviour, but it's a bit late if he's already assaulted or murdered someone really.

My local area is where he was released to. It was a really tense time. Everybody knew he was here and everybody knew what he was doing. The feeling was that he wasn't recalled quick enough given his behaviours.

If this animal is released I will be beyond fury.

He will never ever ever be “rehabilitated”. Another addict who’s insatiable need for that ever so harmless drug cannabis took him to a fantasy world of violence and psychosis and resulted in the death of an innocent women who in terms of talent, intelligence and potential was so far above him she might as well have been a different species.

I’d like to think we eventually caught him due to good police work, but no, it was pure luck. We let Sara down very badly. I hope to god the parole board don’t do the same.
I was his neighbour growing up. He came from a large, Christian family who were very well thought of and active within their community. My other neighbour has spoken to his Mam fairly recently (they live elsewhere now) and she said they had terrible life with him attacking his siblings and being cruel to animals. The fact he turned out this way despite a nice family, that he admitted stalking other women, and that he went around for years after with no remorse shows that he shouldn’t be released as unlikely to ever be trusted not to reoffend. I remember the police investigation as my boyfriend lived near where poor Sara was found and took part in the mass DNA testing that was done. I think it’s just the due process of the law because his (ridiculously short) minimum term is up and they will hopefully turn him down for parole.

One of the TikTokers who speaks out about these things suggests parents stop posting their children anywhere, even on a private or family/friends only page. She shares parts of a video sometimes of FBI discussing what they find on CP sites and it's often "innocent" material a normal person wouldn't see an issue with but they will get off on. Even child predators have their fetishes.
This is bang on. I’ve worked with pedophiles and we have to remember that they are sexually attracted to children. Not children acting, looking or sounding like adults. One patient would cut out pictures of children in the next catalogue and take pictures of the children on CBBs and get off on them. I do not put any pictures of any child under 16 on social media. 1 in 6 men have accessed CP in the UK. This means we all know and love somebody that has viewed this type of content.

Such a tragic death for a young woman. Rohan Dennis charged with death by dangerous driving after killing his wife by running her over. They seemed happy enough so will be interesting to see if any backstory information as to how/why it happened comes to light. He had recently retired from cycling at the end of the 2023 season… They have young children so it’s so very sad.

I wonder what the story is behind the stabbing in Sheffield. It was a wedding, but it definitely sounds like someone with a vendetta given they also used a car as a weapon.

Grooms family allegedly stabbed the bridegroom and ran family members over after this spilled out into the street from the mosque .

I had the same experience. One had to have to have the children's channels blocked on his sky box, wasn't allowed a camera phone, amongst other things as part of his relapse prevention plan. He would even get off on simply listening to the children going to school in the morning, on the other side of a 6 foot fence, he couldn't see them. Another had to have magazines censored for any pictures of children, and would also try and divert off down the baby aisles in supermarkets, just to get off on being surrounded by the paraphernalia on the shelves. They'll look to get their thrill anywhere, no image is innocuous unfortunately.

It seems kind of strange to block any access to seeing or hearing children though. Isn't it better that they get off on watching cbeebies than child abuse images? I would worry that if their 'urges' are entirely frustrated they'll end up snapping and doing something more extreme.
Maybe unpopular opinion but I kind of feel the same about posting innocuous pictures of children online, when it comes to regular people with not many followers that is. It's not that different to taking your children out in the street. They could be seen by a pedophile who could then get off on the image they have in their mind without you ever knowing but as long as your child is safe is it really a danger? We can't lock all children up until adulthood in case a pedalo (and there are a lot of them) catches a glimpse of them.
