Just saw this on TikTok and looked it up... call me an old lady but the younger generation... I have no words. I can only hope there is a line to be drawn with this entitlement and lack of consequences...

TL;DR: A 23 year old went shopping with her children (6 years & 11 months), 2 brothers (14 and 15) and their mother. There was an argument with the brothers over who received more presents. The family went to the grandmother's house and the arguing continued. The 14 year old pulled a gun on his brother and their uncle managed to separate them; the 14 year old was sent to the driveway where the sister, carrying her 11 month old in a carrier, told them to stop - the 14 year old then started arguing with her, calling her horrific names and proceeded to shoot her in the chest. The 15 year old then went outside and shot the brother in the stomach. The 23 year old died in hospital and the 14 year old survived; he had surgery and once recovered will be sent to juvenile detention. He is charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and delinquent in possession of a firearm. The 15 year old is in care of a mental health facility after making self harm comments; he has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.

and yet Americans still think the solution to gun crime is to not get rid of guns 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Gypsy Rose has been released today. Only really read about her case properly today tbh but had heard about her. Hope she can live the life she wants now.

if anyone does know this case - what do you think about the boyfriend (the killer) getting life without parole?
Gypsy came up with the plot to kill and talked him into doing it. Obviously out of desperation to escape her abusive environment. But it just kinda seems a bit sad that she has got out and he hasn’t been given a lighter sentence.

for what it’s worth, I am fully in support of gypsy being released and not even sure she should have been imprisoned in the first place - though definitely placed somewhere with mandatory intense therapy to deal with her life.
but the guy she met online was also clearly a troubled teen and I just feel he’s been let down by the system by not being able to have access to therapy too, and instead being chucked in jail until he dies.

but I guess the American justice system is as warped as their gun laws so no hope really

There is a programme soon where she is interviewed and tells the story,I need to check but it will be on either crime and investigation or investigation discovery ,will check what date it will be shown I think it maybe Jan 5th.Oops bit later date.

Probably not a popular opinion but I think she should have got the same sentence as the boyfriend. Not necessarily life without parole for either of them, but equal punishments. I think she is dangerously manipulative and being abused doesn’t give you a free pass to convince someone else to murder your abuser.

Had she killed her mother herself I would have more sympathy, but like you say I feel the boyfriend’s vulnerability wasn’t taken into account.

I read more about it yesterday and I do agree that it seems he got a really harsh sentence. Usually when people conspire together to commit a murder (especially in America) they are all given the same sentence which could mean life without parole. America seems to not be keen on rehabilitation, if you have murdered someone no matter your age that's you locked up until you die. I remember on the first 48 a 17/18 year old shot someone over drugs I think and he is never getting out. I think that's so harsh because he could be rehabilitated if he was in a gang or whatever. When it comes to gypsy Rose I think the boyfriend deserves to be released one day. Life without parole should be only considered in really bad crimes (I don't agree with the death penalty either) such as murder which was premeditated and brutal.

If this animal is released I will be beyond fury.

He will never ever ever be “rehabilitated”. Another addict who’s insatiable need for that ever so harmless drug cannabis took him to a fantasy world of violence and psychosis and resulted in the death of an innocent women who in terms of talent, intelligence and potential was so far above him she might as well have been a different species.

I’d like to think we eventually caught him due to good police work, but no, it was pure luck. We let Sara down very badly. I hope to god the parole board don’t do the same.

Such an eloquent post. I don’t have much faith in parole boards but here’s hoping they make the right decision.

This is the kind of crime where a person should never be released. How can you be rehabilitated from something as hideous as that? Why should he be able to leave prison and probably live another 30+ years as a free man?

This is my thought exactly. I hope she has been rehabilitated in prison. The baby voice she put on during her police interviews was incredibly creepy and manipulative. And she sat and let him take most of the fall.
