It’s hard to trust true crime documentaries. There are some which do valuable work in drawing attention to a case - but unfortunately also many which misrepresent things in order to sensationalise or to push a particular narrative. Sometimes this is just poor management of the evidence (or a lack of understanding of crime, psychology, etc), but sometimes it’s even deliberate (or, more charitably, the result of manipulation by perpetrators who are involved in making the doc).

Not referring to this case as I haven’t watched it - just crime programmes and documentaries in general. I’ve watched a lot over the years and it’s really shocked me how misleading they can be. But then, would I want the whole category not to exist…? Probably not.

Did anyone catch the new series on Ch5 killer at the crime scene last night?
S1 E1 Jodi Jones. Her 14yr old boyfriend found her and was convicted with little to no evidence.
Obviously it might be heavily biased reporting but seems no dna or evidence of him being there.
His mum continues to fight for his release and 3 appeals have been denied.
Not but I remember it clearly as it was local. However I don’t know if Mitchell killed her or not or if it was a guy called Mark Kane who is now deceased.
Corinne seems like a very vulnerable lady.

This is awful.

If you haven't seen it,it's graphic:
With the victims permission, on Lancs Police Twitter there's a photo of a lady whose "partner" best her up. Just awful
omg the bloody handprint on the wall  sometimes I'm so glad I'm single, there are way too many violent men and even violent women out there. Even if they're not physically violent there's so many people in emotionally abusive relationships. I've even had bad experiences myself, just toxic and controlling. I feel better off alone tbh

There's a single by choice thread on Tattle, I'm with you. Especially with having kids and reading about all the "stepdads" who harm kids.

I didn’t realise Sara had a biological brother until this morning
Where is he now and why wasn’t the mum asking that in her interview with the sun if she’s also not seen him for four years, surely you’d now be concerned about his whereabouts and welfare
She was also planning to move back Poland so not planning contact .
Not judging as i don't know the details but I couldn't live the area let alone the country .

That C5 documentary was extremely biased and there is plenty of evidence of Luke Mitchell's mother being a liar.
I watched that and that's all I know so to me he's innocent but obviously it's not as black and white as a documentary and they could easily edit it and twist things to do another one that makes him look guilty , it's crazy how sucked in you get

Was going to say that - goodness knows what, it’s have been something awful.
Not necessarily. Just because he had custody doesn’t mean she did something wrong. I’ve known women who were survivors of domestic violence lose custody because their ex was able to manipulate the system and they didn’t present as well due to struggling with their mental health/reactive abuse.

As I already said there is lots unknown about this case but at this moment in time based on the information we do know I’m going to judge the parent who did have custody and ran to another county leaving his child’s dead body to be found by police.

Anybody following this case? It’s taken years to get to trial;

I used to live not far from Islington and would sometimes pass the flower stall, it’s really very sad.

This is very true. I remember when the Louise Woodward trial happened (i was a similar age to her) being of the opinion she was innocent like a lot of Britain at the time but I look at it now and think, she was alone with a baby and he received a severe head injury - of course she bloody did it. But all of Britain welcomed her back and I think she has children herself now. It's scary really how things can be twisted.

I think there was a lot of circumstantial evidence in the Luke Mitchell case so understandably it's hard to call. But to me it seems on balance he did it. There was more to it than his dog finding the body & him being a goth. I've watched a few c5 docs and they aren't the best IMO.

With Louise Woodward, many prosecution experts have said they wouldn't give the same testimony today.
