Yeah but you're restricted to what's at the check point. Sure a bit of luxury is nice, but if you're travelling through some really cool places, or chance to do some interesting job (like the surf boards this week) then you want to take advantage of that
True but I think I'd want to try and win and just do what I could at check points. Least if you won you'd be able to then have the prize money to do what you want without feeling rushed. They probably waste money going on different routes for jobs or activities

Their main priority is to make an entertaining TV show, so they're probably given suggested activities by the producers and some of it will be arranged in advance. Just watching them sit on a bus for the whole hour wouldn't make great TV

I quite like all the pairs now, especially Betty and James and the boys. I think the siblings especially come across as really respectful of the locals, like last week when they had the passport crisis, they still went out of their way to apologise to their hosts for being late for dinner

I think there are probably stage rules that you have to do at least one job and visit one local site of interest, makes no sense why they would work now otherwise, surely you would do as many jobs in Japan for ££££ rather than work in Indo for peanuts.

Also would explain why Stephen and Viv and that bratty girl and her mum visited places in Thailand that cost them their leads, they have to visit somewhere each stage.

I think if Betty and James had properly clicked earlier they would be well in this race. Unfortunately because it took a few weeks, they were happy to just spend spend spend and not properly consult with each other to form strategies.

I always thought teams should do experiences on the legs as well as racing but the older couple said they did some cruising and massages at the check point? So now I don't understand why they do stuff on the legs when they can do some stuff on check points without wasting time and also not wasting budget

I think they were referring to having had cruise holidays before the race and are used to having massages etc on holiday or at home. As they're used to a certain type of luxury now that they won't get on the race.

I guess because Japan was first they still had a good budget left so they wouldn't have known that they would run our be better close to running out

Quite late in the series to introduce Betty’s sob story.

I know it’s not really a sob story, it’s a terrible thing she’s had to go through but I’m not sure what else to call it.

It was very touching how James even asked for a hug.

Stephen annoyed me less this episode. But they have loads of cash left and I’m not sure why they’re still not willing to spend it.

I hope the two women don’t win but I think it’s looking like the most likely outcome now.

It made me wonder if Betty and james are the eventual winners. Leave the story until late to get people rooting for them last minute.

We were rolling our eyes at the 'sob stories' in every episode. Not to belittle these people's experience, it's more how overproduced the series has become. Some of the conversations being had were so awkward you can almost here the producer going: "talk about this now."

I am still enjoying the series. The shots of the scenery are breath-taking. I've really warmed to a few of the contestants and the route has been really good this year.

Didn't they only share Zainab and Mobeen's fertility struggle in the last episode last year?

Someone asked about whether they could work at the checkpoints but I think as the show is also classed as work they can only do so many days before they have to have a break. Not forgetting the camera operators and story producers that are with them also have to have a break. Same with things like Love Island where they have a day off each week and leave the villa.

The boys were going to be talking on Fun Kids Radio, unfortunately i didn’t tune in to what they said but it’s on the app if you want to listen. I thought it was a bit strange to appear on a kids radio show when RATW isn’t on until 9pm so most kids won’t know of it especially as i am sure there is swearing on the show or is it bleeped out? I can’t recall.

It’s repeated at the weekend in an earlier timeslot with swearing bleeped out. My 9yo is loving it!

The mum and daughter are so irritating. The daughter is quite negative but I can’t help to think that the mother gets what she gave.
In the beginning the mum was so negative about her daughter and literally rolling her eyes and such. Reminds me a lot of my own mum to be honest. Maybe that’s why it’s grating on me 😅
Sorry if this is already discussed!
