Another fave for me to catch up on. I also really curious about how this show is filmed
I've always wondered about buses etc. If they go up and they say "we only have two seats left". Do the contestants then take a go pro to film and the runners/camera operators meet them at where they're headed to OR do they have to wait to find a bus that has enough for 3/4 people? 🤔

Just finished watching it. I don’t like either of the father daughter couples. The guy who cleaned the bus going on about how the guy helped them so he is helping back. He didn’t really help them did he as he would’ve charged them a bus ticket to get on?
I found Claudia annoying. Her dad seemed to be really confident but then they ended up spending so much on taxis.
The husband and wife, I don’t like the wife and I think she reminds me a little of Jen from s2 (but not
My favs from ep1 are the older ladies and the brothers.

Although there isn’t a language barrier (apart from Quebec) I think this is more about the cost of things as surely it’s more expensive in Canada than the where the other 2 seasons took place.

Love this show! I’m guessing they were a bit stuck location wise cause of covid, one country makes it easier somewhat. Scenery does look amazing and will be interesting seeing them journey through the different scenery. No one standing out to me though.

Is it set up then? I didn't even think that when I was watching, so naive haha
Some of it was last year. Especially when Lizzie and her Brother got 'picked up' when hitchhiking. It just so happened they were another trendy Brother and Sister the same age, who invited them to this big party where they got the chance to eat & drink for free because they hardly had any money left.

Tbh if anyone deserved to have something set up it was them. Was it before or after their health issue? I can’t remember. But I thought it was unfair that they didn’t paused everyone else for the same amount of time that he couldn’t leave due to the doctors advice

Even if they deserved it, was still set up! Which was my point.

I don't like the father daughter duo- Monique and I can't remember the dad's name. It's a bit tedious him playing the wise old man and trying to turn everything into a life-lesson for his daughter (who is 25- shouldn't she have learnt some of this by now?) and she seems like she's always 'on' for the camera and talks like a cringey teenager.

ETA- I don't much like the other father/daughter duo either actually 😅 But I'm warming to the other pairs

Yes definitely, especially the last series in my opinion.

Last nights was better but there's still something off about it that I can put my finger on
I think it’s how they are editing it? Like with the two who won the second episode didn’t we last see them struggling to find a way to the check point and then they won with a huge time difference to second place. Also I thought the first part of episode 2 was very focused on 2 couples for quite a bit before they went to the others.
Another thing I thinks different is how this seasons very focused on car shares which imo is more boring to watch. As it’s just then struggling for a while to find someone to help. Whereas previous seasons it was about public transport and then trying to find the best route/mixture of transport which was more variable and depending on their own decisions more than standing waiting hoping someone can help.

Are they all signing in on arrival at check point and then leaving at staggered times.in the new series?

My focus seems to be drifting, but the stakes of the race don't seem so high this series.

Also series 1 had the elimination in episode 2 so that added an extra stake

Yeah I think you're right. Rewatching series 1 the route and transport options are a big part of it. I'm actually enjoying rewatching series 1 more than the new series

I guess with covid and wars, they are a big limited on where they can film. They've already covered Europe, half of Asia and a lot of South America.

I don't know if Africa has good enough transport links between countries to do it there, plus a safety issue with some countries.

They always did the staggered leaving depending on when they get there, so there’s the benefit of getting there first etc. can’t remember about s1 but in s2 they definitely checked in using the book as I remember them making a big deal about opening the book to see where they placed and how much time they had. Also as someone else said sometimes the extra times pointless as they have to wait for one ferry or one bus so all the teams end up on the same transport so it didn’t matter if they left early.
This season has the elimination next episode it was shown in the preview this week.
Maybe they could do Australia or USA? I reckon maybe another South American one and a Central American one? I prefer when they also have the language barrier. I think that’s another thing in this season so far is that’s it’s easy for them to find info from the public whereas before they’ve struggled (esp s2)

Ah I must be missing the staggered leaving and sign ins this series. Its become a bit of background tv. Glad it's not changed that format then.

I fear a USA one could be like Canada one but I expect that's a likely candidate. Not sure Australia would work as so much is around th edges but New Zealand maybe with two islands, same with Japan maybe.

I have been to the park in Vancouver where they started by the totem poles. The couple who got lost could have just followed the road out. I wonder if they encourage some of the couples to take a different route to make it more interesting. So far it seems to be more luck than skill involved as it has mainly been car sharing and hitch hiking. I think it will be all about the money this series.
I would enjoy an asian series. India, Japan or China.

Yes that was the first thing that made me think it might be set up, just seemed silly unnecessary drama

Parts of Asia including China are in series 1 but yeah so much they could do there.
