Even when he was still young, he let Junior off with a lot he didn't let Princess do. When it came out she had a boyfriend he did the overprotective routine that he thought would endear him when it made him look like an idiot as she clearly knows what is what.

I cannot stand the guy. I remember after him and KP split up he kept saying that she had done all this stuff and making massive hints about how awful she was as a wife/mother but that he wasn't going to talk about it as he keeping a dignified silence. 
That set massive alarm bells about his 'nice guy' persona for me. I can't stand people who spend their lives telling people how nice they are/what they're going to do for you.
A few years ago I did a campaign with some contractors who have worked with him, they said he came across nice but that whenever he didn't want to do something/ didn't agree with something he would agree to their face and be really positive about it, and then go get his management to come tell them no. This was to do with his property rather than his "career", so there was no reason for management to be involved.
Pretty weak tea but it confirmed what I've always thought about him.

I thought he was a massive dick during the split. Fair enough if she HAD done some bad stuff but if you're not going to disclose that information, dont talk about it at all. I always felt the management (especially Claire Powell) was involved with their split, not meaning an affair or anything, but rather that the split would be good for Pete's 'Career'.

I’ve always thought this. If you’re going to say nothing, actually say nothing. Otherwise you’re basically saying ‘something really bad happened’ but without having to offer a shred of evidence or allow any sort of comeback.

Oh definitely, Claire's ex confirmed this during their court battle over the company. The objective was to 'bury the witch'. It was shown that Pete lied when he said Neville, Claire's ex had made threats against him.
