Peaky Blinders - season 6

I’d forgotten about that bit already lol
See that’s a whole other storyline right there!

Hmmm too much of a bombshell for it to be mentioned then nothing else

I rewatched the whole series and he does mention Duke’s mum to Lizzie (he doesn’t say her name but presume it’s her) and says he told her he was going to change the world. She sounded like she was as special to him as Grace so presumably he’ll bring him into the fold?

You’re thinking of Tommy’s first love that died of consumption before the war. I think this was just a one night stand type thing

Honestly I’m sick of seeing Arthur the way he is. It’s adding nothing to the story and is just making me infuriated with the show.

They’ve got a lot to wrap up in two episodes. Like, a lot. They’re adding new plots unrelated to the ones they started the season with, and it’s just making it seem messy and unstructured.

I’ve been watching since the beginning (never rewatched the series so a lot of the earlier info I totally forget!) I actually really enjoyed that episode but the previous two not so much. So many loose ends though! Thought Lizzys acting has been outstanding my heart broke for her last night.

Re the Black Cat (sorry I know I keep on about it!) was it meant to be the IRA lady because didn’t she say that she got rid of the people at Mosley’s speech who tried to assinate Mosley and killing Polly?

My understanding is that the black cat is whoever tipped off the IRA about the details of Mosely's assassination, it must have been someone with inside info. The IRA were not confided in about this plot, someone told them. I think that fella who was singing in the pubs and fixing football matches for the Peaky Blinders - Billy Grade - could be the black cat. In series 5 after a drunken Finn tells him "A fascist will die tonight" then stuffs a bundle of notes into his hand and leaves. Billy is then seen immediately picking up a phone to make a call.

I'm probably in a minority, but I'm enjoying this series being more about Tommy's state of mind. I found last night's very hard to watch though, with Ruby's funeral and then Tommy at the end, that was too close to home for me and I feel a bit haunted by it.
I wish someone would just put a bullet through Diana Mitford, actually think she's worse than Mosley. Sadly she died in 2003, unrepentant. Both were interned in the war though as fascists.

Yes I've been reading up about Mosley and Mitford since seeing them in Peaky Blinders. Presumably as Tommy is still working for Churchill, he is providing info to him about the fascist movement and Mitford's 'friendship' with Hitler which is why they ended up interned in the War, so not quite a rewriting of history as some see it?

I'm also still enjoying it.

Mitford was actually the cousin of Churchill's wife... Didn't realise that until I also did some reading up. 😱

I'm enjoying the series but it definitely has a different vibe about it, doesn't feel like the normal Peaky Blinders we're used to.

I read that too and that he intervened to allow her and Mosley to be in the same prison. I watched an interview with her when she was older, she was so terribly posh!

I remember seeing photos from when they were filming this series and she definitely goes to see Tommy at the canal side, so I wonder if they'll have her have sex with Tommy?!

The Mitford sisters are really quite interesting. You have Diana the Fascist, Jessica the Communist, Unity the Hitler-lover, Nancy the Novelist, Deborah the Duchess and Pamela the poultry connoisseur. Unity was so depressed that Germany and U.K. were going to war she shot herself in the head (with a gun Hitler provided for her protection) in Munich but survived with terrible brain damaged and died 9 years later. Whilst in hospital Hitler visited her, paid for her medical bills and arranged her return home.
Diana was married to Mosley in Joseph Goebbels home and Hitler was the guest of honour. Diana was deemed “far cleverer and more dangerous than her husband and will stick at nothing to achieve her ambitions” by MI5. Apparently later in life she privately admitted that the Nazi’s were awful.
