Peaky Blinders - season 6

The Mitford sisters are really quite interesting. You have Diana the Fascist, Jessica the Communist, Unity the Hitler-lover, Nancy the Novelist, Deborah the Duchess and Pamela the poultry connoisseur. Unity was so depressed that Germany and U.K. were going to war she shot herself in the head (with a gun Hitler provided for her protection) in Munich but survived with terrible brain damaged and died 9 years later. Whilst in hospital Hitler visited her, paid for her medical bills and arranged her return home.
Diana was married to Mosley in Joseph Goebbels home and Hitler was the guest of honour. Diana was deemed “far cleverer and more dangerous than her husband and will stick at nothing to achieve her ambitions” by MI5. Apparently later in life she privately admitted that the Nazi’s were awful.

Yes and Hitler gave Diana a framed photo of himself so when the Police arrived to arrest her she hid the photo under the babies cot! She had only had another baby a month before she was imprisoned.

I've been reading that too. I don't think it's that well known how widespread fascism was in Britain in 30s, we kind of like to talk about the war more and defeating it, but it was a bigger thing than we think, look at Edward VIII, new doc on him soon I'm going to try and catch.

Disappointed Churchill let them be together, they didn't deserve that. Unity sounds utterly deranged.

Yeah, I didn't know much about fascism although I remember Stephen Graham's character in This is England being a fascist. It's definitely true about Edward VIII as at one point Mosley and Diana were their neighbours and Diana went on to write a book about Wallis!

Edward was working with the Nazi’s and if they got rid of his brother they would make him King instead.
There are also photos of The Queen mother and children doing to Nazi salute. I don’t know if it was jokingly or not but it was very widespread in the higher echelons of society.

and that other baby was max mosley who went on to be head of f1 (and had a whole scandal about liking prostitutes who dressed up as nazis, iirc)!

still not fully into this series, though my interest has waned with each series since the second. if cillian murphy didn’t look so 🔥 in it i’m not sure i’d bother. he’s been amazing though, crazy that he hasn’t ever had any awards buzz for playing tommy.

Was the ira woman singing Grace’s song ?

Yes but it was strange how Diana was staring at him. I think they're definitely going to have sex or she is wanting to!

He's won a few TV awards for Peaky Blinders. Two Irish Film & TV (IFTA) awards, an NTA (national TV awards). I remember him winning the NTA but he wasn't there to collect the award and a TV choice award. But I'm surprised he's never been nominated for a BAFTA.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the film will end up focussing on Arthur. I think they are deliberately keeping his character in the back ground because the film will focus on his big come back. Could be wrong but that’s the impression I get after last nights episode.

The actress who plays Diana Mitford is bloody brilliant. Shame they didn’t do better with the IRA leader. Women in the IRA back in the day were absolutely fearless soldiers. Her character came across as meek and unassuming last night.

I hadn't even thought of that, great observation! It seemed odd to me that such a big character has been supressed for four episodes - even if Arthur roared back to life and if it were like the good old days when he ran amok in Sabini's club it's still way too late in the series to do that. Perhaps the more Tommy deteriorates in the film and relies on "people who love him very much", the more Arthur grows stronger. Your theory makes perfect sense, it sets the scene for the film.

Still struggling to get into this series.

My ending predictions are - Either Tommy is going to die or the doctor is lying after someone put him upto it/paid him. Lizzie & Aida are going to go far away with the kids for safety and Arthur is going to die

So basically - I think it's going to end well...:rolleyes:

Also not sure if I've mentioned this before but i bloody hate Michael... as for Gina, Jesus she drives me mad - she's such a funny looking fish

As for the film, I think it may be something like the rise and fall of the peaky blinders, so all characters will make an appearance? (obviously not poor Polly though)

I think Cillian Murphy has already signed up for the film so I don't reckon we'll see Tommy's death until then (unless they do the same as they did with Grace and bring him back as a ghostly presence).

Same re: Michael, I hated him on sight when he first appeared in series 2. I really hope he'll get his comeuppance this series.

Did anyone else find the scene with Stephen Graham really hyped but disappointing. He's good, but very overrated imho, seems very similar in everything he does. I also think Anya Taylor Joy is massively overrated, she's so irritating in PB, I really hope Ada shoots her!
I really like Stephen Graham but I’m not sure what the point of his character is here? I guess he’s going to help Arthur but they have a lot to cram into 2 episodes.
As for Anya I find her ridiculously overhyped. She’s everywhere at the moment.

This face she pulls just makes me want to punch her 👊

Anyone else hate Gina?? Her face is just so irritating I could slap her 😂😂
Yes, me! She's an annoying character, annoying actress, off face, though she is attractive in odd way she's so thin she looks like a lollipop. Also, she always speaks in that weird seductive way and it's just so irritating. Like, are we all meant to find her unbearably sexy???
