Out of curiosity, how is the BDC going down in the Facebook group?

Of course it is, can't be seen to not think every single thing Elis, John and Dave do is comedic perfection. Must be seen to be their number one fans in every aspect of everything they do...
That's what I like about our wee corner of the community, not everyone likes every feature but we're not going to berate anyone for it!

And don’t your dare criticise anything because “Elis and Dave are in the group”. Yeah, I don’t think they’re obsessively keeping on refreshing it all day, like a lot of them seem to.

It's totally normal and acceptable behaviour to discuss whether bits of the show are working or not.

I go in for a nose every couple of months. Have a quick scan, see it’s still the same old crew holding fort or writing attention seaking posts.

The thing is, the isolation tapes were a contractual obligation like this is but were, on the whole, really quite funny. The BDC seems totally confused in what it’s attempting to do. I’m not from Aberdeen, but I did go to boarding school in Elgin and had plenty weekends down there to know the accent was questionable and the jokes….well, tit. I know Dave said there’s at least six months left; however I wonder realistically how long it has.

It all seems a bit John heavy at the moment…apart from Cymru Connection which he seems to also make about him! I understand his MH isn’t always good but IMO Elis & Dave are not doing him any favours. The ‘bum’ issue is becoming tedious as well it’s been weeks.

I haven’t listened to the BDC and after reading these posts I definitely won’t now, unless the format changes. A real shame as it will be the first time I’ve skipped content but sounds too awful to bear.
To be fair, it'll see out the contract, but I'd be surprised if we got to episode 40 without a DI Robbyns style killing off of the concept of it being a different accent every week.
I think it's supposed to be just an extra 20 minutes of the show to drive people to sounds, but given they haven't really got a format, they've taken a joke and hammered it to death in less than a month to fill that gap. They should literally just use it to read out emails.
Interestingly I had a quick look at the Facebook group after someone here asked how it was going down and there was only one post about this week's BDC so far and not many responses to that post - yet loads about the Christmas episode so not setting the world alight just yet, but also no hate like here either.

My take is that they’ve been asked (/told) that they have to make this extra content for BBC Sounds for either no extra £ or less £ than John wanted (think this has been discussed but can’t remember the conclusion). So John has decided to make it the most ridiculous, unlistenable or unbroadcastable content so that eventually the BBC or Dave gives up on the idea and it gets cancelled. I’m sure it was alluded to that a lot had to be cut out of one of the episodes before it was uploaded because of the accent or just being borderline offensive.
